The Bakers Bar is a true hidden gem. I only found it because my wife and I were fortunate enough to take a walking tour (in January) and be the only attendees. So after the tour, we offered to buy our sage like guide (Jim) a drink and he took us down stairs to a location that I've walked past a hundred times before without ever noticing. The bar is located in the basement of 1 Broad Street. The building itself is a magnificent piece of architecture and the Bakers Bar is no exception. FYI - the name is no accident. The owner, Mike Ray, is a professional French trained Baker and so the main staple is pizza. I was told it was the best in Charleston, and by the continual parade of customers coming in to pick up pies I would have to say that it must be. The next time I'm in town I will certainly try some. The beer and wine selection is also great. I had a few Kolsch beers and loved them. We spent a few hours at the Bakers and truly enjoyed meeting and speaking with the staff. Everyone was a true professional and took great pride in their work. The Bakers Bar is now a must stop location for me every time I get back to Charleston. Find 1 Broad Street and head downstairs. You...

Popped in here after a quick bike ride in the area. Stopped in on a Thursday. They had live music by a man named Pork chop. He was really great but the volume inside was a bit loud for me (could not hear my boyfriend talking who was sitting right next to me). We decided to sit outside. They have two picnic tables available. We went with the spicy pesto pizza and it was my NEW FAVORITE PIZZA IN CHARLESTON! That's saying a lot coming from someone who loves pizza and has tried many of the local spots. They put large pieces of mozzarella on it, but not in a way some other places do where you have exposed sauce and no cheese on top. They load this baby up with just the right amount of toppings. It's seriously special. The only thing I regret is not having tried this place sooner! Serving staff is attentive (attended to us right away when we sat at the bar as well as when we sat outside). Service was prompt and done with a true smile. We will definitely be back and be recommending to all the pizza lovers we know! Thank you for a...

Please disregard Molly Martin’s review...

I was there that night and she was being extremely loud and obnoxious the entire time we were there. We had to raise our voices to hear each other over her and she was “seated” 30 feet away.

The staff was very patient with her until the point when they had no choice but to cut her off... guess she didn’t take it too well since she got up and shattered her drink glass on the bar top.

So Molly maybe you aren’t remembering things quite how they happened, maybe you should take your post down and maybe you should think twice before you post BS reviews on the web.

For the record I am not friends with the people at bakers bar but they are nice people. They kicked you out because you were being an absolute nuisance you’re lucky you were able to stay as long as you did. I would have handled the situation just like they did. My favorite part was when you kept opening the door and screaming obscenities into the restaurant after you were asked to leave. Way to go! If you’re gonna act like...

What a wonderful hole in the ground place. Honestly the location, the speakeasy type feel, the music, the staff, this has to be one of the best kept secrets of Charleston. I'll start first with a slight apology to the owner as taking these pictures was kind of a no-no due to there being a no cell phone policy, but I just had to show how great this place looks. Don't take that the wrong way you can use your phone they just prefer you to socialize and I can't disagree with that. The two staff (I spoke with): Charlie and Shawn were amazing, very talkative, polite, friendly, and all around welcoming. Don't get me started on the food. It was beyond good! The huge garlic knot was so good. The chicken pizza was different but in a very good way. I enjoyed my entire experience and cannot wait to go back again.

Baker’s Bar in South Windermere never misses. My go-to is the Bolognese Pizza which is the stuff comfort food dreams are made of. Homey meat sauce, mozz, and red chili oil. Pro tip: order the Big Salad and eat it on top of the pie. A new addition to their menu is the New Pesto and my love of the Bolognese pie has now become polyamorous. The New Pesto has (you guessed it), pesto base with sausage, roasted garlic, roasted tomato, cheese, and topped with arugula. Aside from the killer food, Baker’s Bar has a cool and laid back vibe with pinball machines, alien figurines, and a rad Point Break poster. Only complaint is they don’t get Bally South for us Braves fans but that is forgivable as soon as that sweet, sweet pizza hits my tastebuds.
