Cozy biscuit shop that was highly recommended on various listicles and by different friends. Came here as a group on a Saturday around 10am and there was a line of people outside waiting to receive their orders as well as well as a line to order at the counter. Sometimes the line can get as long as out the door and around the block, even late at night since it’s open until 2am, but this time around we waited for about 15 min to order and about 20 min to receive the biscuits. The lady comes out calling your name to hand you your order in little boxes. We took ours and walked to the farmers market which was a 5 min walk away and ate it in the park. I got the 3 mini biscuits for $5 and it was so delicious. The owner who also rang us up (I recognized her from the cookbook that was on sale in the store!) was also a sweetheart and was super pleasant. The biscuits were buttery and flakey and so filling. I had the chive one, blackberry, and cinnamon. All were good but I especially liked the blackberry one. It had the right amount of jam in the middle that tasted very fresh and flavorful. We also shared the pumpkin spice biscuits which came in two and were seasonal. There was some light icing on the top and were also equally soft and warm. They reminded me of cinnamon rolls in terms of the softness of the dough. They do take credit card and there was no WiFi. There’s a water station available where you can have some complimentary water and there’s also other beverages for sale. There’s also biscuit sandwiches for heartier appetites and you can customize by adding things like pimento cheese or bacon. Overall this is a cute shop with tasty, fresh biscuits that are clearly made with a lot of love...
Read moreAfter watching the TV show, How She Rolls, I couldn't wait to give this place a try while visiting Charleston. Unfortunately it was a bit underwhelming for me... the biscuits were good but the dozen we got to take with us appeared to be just dumped in the box. The person taking our order was on her phone watching a video the whole time, too. For the price we paid, it was a little disappointing to be honest. UPDATE: After corresponding several times with the concerned management about the experience i had following my first visit I was graciously invited to come back and I was honestly very happy to do just that! After all, the biscuits were just too good not to want them again and, let's face it, who among us hasn't had an "off" day where things just weren't the norm? We ALL have had that happen and it was truly obvious that my first visit to the King st location was simply the rare day that things just weren't how they typically work at Callies Hot Little Biscuit. This time I can't say enough positive things about the food they make and serve in true welcoming southern tradition. We were greeted with a smile, and our order taken and completed with minimal wait. Nowhere in the world will you find tastier, delicious biscuits- seriously, they practically melt in your mouth! On my next visit to Charleston, you can bet the first stop I will be making is another visit to Callies Hot Little Biscuit. Special sincere Thank You to Annalyle for your sincere and gracious communication, you all...
Read moreHorrendous service. Can't really review the food since it sat inside for 30 minutes and it all got cold/soggy and needed to be thrown out. We ordered 2 biscuit sandwiches and 2 orders of mini biscuits online to avoid cramming into the line & practice social distancing. Set the pick up time for 9:15. Showed up at 9:05 and called to let them know we were here for our order (as per their instructions) and was told the food would be out in a few minutes. Over 35 minutes later we still had no food, while other were having their order filled relatively quickly, so we decided to call again and see what was going on. Turns out the food was ready the whole time and just sat on the counter in the bag because they had completely forgotten about it. If we hadn't called there is a good chance we would have been standing there for hours while people crammed into the store and got their orders taken/filled. Horrible service, will never return to this location. Can't speak for the food too much since it was cold/soggy and we had to throw it out. Also as a side note they were not following covid-19 capacity requirements and had at least double what their sign on the front said they should have in the store at one time. Hopefully I am just an outlier this time. Either way, we will not...
