The Bangkok Lounge — Restaurant in Charleston

I never feel compelled to write reviews, but I had to after this weekend. The staff at Bangkok were so rude, excluding the bartenders. The DJ clearly had favorites and would let certain people sing once walking in and some of our friends saw him moving certain songs up next in the queue. This is fine, not the biggest deal, it happens. What really floored me, my friend saw people paying for their songs to move up in the queue. She asked him if she could do the same and his response "Maybe if you give me a big tip." She proceeded to Venmo his $5 and showed him. He laughed in her face and took $5 out of his tip jar and tossed it at her and said "that's not a big tip." From there, we went and sat at a table. After a little time passes, another worker comes up and basically tells us he has a reservation coming in and to get up or get out. Reservation- cool we get it, but the way he spoke to us was extremely rude. I get they deal with drunk people but we were there at 6pm and had 2 drinks. Will not...

I’ve come to this bar in the past and usually have a great time, but I was really disappointed by the way a situation was handled recently. One of my friends had a song in the karaoke queue and was unfairly bumped down, even though she hadn’t performed previously. When she politely asked about it, the DJ responded with hostility and later approached our group using inappropriate language. To make matters worse, when someone from our group left a review, the bar responded by spreading false information about her being intoxicated all day, which wasn’t true. That kind of response doesn’t reflect accountability, it’s deflection and an attempt to discredit valid concerns. All in all, we understand things can get busy, but there’s no excuse for disrespect. A little professionalism and kindness would’ve gone a long way. This experience left a sour taste, and I hope management takes feedback like this seriously. We genuinely enjoy the venue and want it to remain a fun, welcoming place...

What we thought was going to be a horrible evening ended up being one of the most memorable. I, myself read the reviews before we got there and OMG! these negative reviews are true.... NOT! Listen we had the best time during our visit at Bangkoks. We both thought the KJ was playing favorites as stated in some of the reviews and maybe he was but keep in mind you do sign up for a song through your phone and then the system puts you in the queue not the KJ and even maybe someone will give a nice tip to be bumped up maybe just to sing sooner or even if they wanted to be bumped up and wanted to sing before they had to leave (did NOT happen when we were there on October 20th 2024 but if I were a host I would accept it, times are rough nowadays). Please if you think this is happening that the KJ is playing favorites, unfair or anything.... go up to the bartenders and let them know because obviously the owner cares as you can see their responses to the patrons who made the...
