Very overpriced. $5 extra to add fries and a drink to your meal and the fries were caked in salt. They asked for a tip when we paid at the time we placed our order. Not sure what the tip was for since all they did was bring us our food from the kitchen, drinks were self serve. For $14/meal the food portions were disappointingly small. The chicken in one of the meals was cold and poor tasting which we mentioned. It would have been appreciated for them to have offered to refund that meal that wasn't eaten, but they didn't. Will not go back there again
In response to Eric's reply... Just to clarify, the what appeared to be a maybe 13 year old boy basically running the place, asked me to leave a tip. I was not alone when he asked so others can verify that is what took place. As far as the food goes, we did NOT ask for the leftover half of the chicken wrap to be taken away. A woman came out of the kitchen, picked up the box and said "I'll just take this then" when I said the person who ordered it wasn't going to eat it. We never asked or told her to take the box. She did that on her own and we were quite shocked that she thought it was okay to just take the food we paid for along with the asked for tip. Even if none of us were going to eat the food it was ours to take. On the fries, I've read other reviews about how salty they are. The ones that weren't covered in salt were good. Other restaurants will point out ways to save money and food waste by offering other menu options. We all ordered fries, maybe teach the kid, if you're going to have him running the show, to say "would you like a fry basket to share instead?"
You should probably change your pricing on Google to two dollar signs as opposed to one. If people want fries and a drink with their order it becomes quite costly for a McDonald's size meal. Thank you for the offer on the free meal, I'll consider taking you up...
Read moreHotdoggers Coney Cafe serves up the best Chicago-style hot dogs I've ever had, even surpassing those at Portillo's. Each bite is a flavorful explosion, capturing the true essence of the Windy City.
Hotdoggers' attention to detail and quality ingredients make for an unbeatable hot dog experience. It's not just about the food, but the entire experience that transports you straight into the heart of Chicago.
My only suggestion? I'd love to see them tackle Italian beef sandwiches next. With their skill and passion, I'm certain it would be phenomenal.
In short, Hotdoggers is a must-visit for any Chicago-style cuisine lover. I look forward to my next visit and hopefully trying a new menu addition, most...
Read moreOverall excellent dog. The sauce was great. Toppings? Not overwhelming. In proportion. Bun: steamed and pliable.
Decor? Also interesting.
Price isn't everything. Oscar Wilde once said people know the price of everything, but the cost of nothing. You might say, that's 5 dollars for a hot dog. I hear you. I'm from an economically depressed area of Ohio. The best coney you can procure there is 2.75. Was it worth twice the cost of a typical coney dog? Well, it's at least twice as good as a typical coney. Quality is notoriously difficult to define, but as one member of our lauded Court said: I know it when I see it. Level with yourself — if you even like hot dogs occasionally, you...
