Do not waste your time and money here!!Absolutely terrible experience.👎🏻👎🏻 First of all, we were the first one on the waited line and we waited for about 20 mins to be seated for “not so busy” restaurant. None of the staffs greeting or say Hi or at least acknowledge that we were waiting. There were 5-6 empty tables at that time, there also people waited in line behind us that didn’t get seated right after us, they were still standing in line for a while. I don’t know if the restaurant were short staffs or they just didn’t care to seat costumers. Second, 3 things on the menu I ordered run out. They ran out of soup of the day and pie, when I ordered watermelon Mai tai, I was told that they don’t have it too. I end up ordered steak & salad, my BF ordered wings and cocktail. On the drink menu, they don’t have the price which we found out on the check that blood orange sunset cost $20.99. Third. When we waited for our food, we noticed they don’t have food runner, Each staffs take care of their own table. They have open kitchen which we can see almost everything and it was really irritated me. I can see how unorganized this place is, I saw a lots of food that was done and put on the counter waited. They were just waited there for a while until staffs came and brought them to their tables. At one point there were more than 10+ plates on the counter and 6 of them were burgers. Those burgers sat there for a while probably at least 15 mins, it got to be cold when they serve them. Waiters came by and touch those plates but when they saw it not their table, they left them there. It wasn’t that busy so I don’t know if the staffs lack of skills or they just don’t care. We waited for food about 30-mins which I think it kinda long for salad and wings. I got my eyes on salad dish that been sitting on the counter for 15 mins, I hope it not my order. And sure as hell our waitress brought that salad and one of the burger to our table. My BF ordered chicken wings but somehow the waitress thought he ordered burger. I told him to just take the burger so we don’t have to wait another 30mins. He didn’t want cold burger since it been sitting on the counter and was touch by all the waiters. When we finally got to eat, food weren’t that good. Of course my steakhouse bleu was very cold, steak was overcook and dry, onion ring was super oily, chicken wings was very small for $19.99. I didn’t finish the food, we took leftover home but end up throw them away anyway. And we also notice other costumers didn’t look happy with their food as well. At the end our bill was $67 for chicken wing, steakhouse bleu and 1 cocktail. When I walked out, I almost wanted to tell people who waited in line to just go somewhere else, it’s...
Read moreWe initially had three hours at CLT airport (which then became six hours due to the Microsoft crash affecting multiple airlines and their flight) so my family and I planned to sit and eat somewhere. Reading Google reviews had us scoping out 1897 Market and Bad Baddy Burgers. We saw there was a line so we made our to 1897 only to find a gaggle of people out front, but no host to direct anyone. A few employees in their uniforms walked to or walked by the check-in podium, but none of them acknowledged the crowd that stood there waiting as they looked at many empty tables at the restaurant. None of the employees were interested in entertaining any of the waiting parties. As the crowd around me grew, I got more and more frustrated by the lack of any direction from the employees. No signage anywhere for a QR code to check-in. Just nothing. Is there a check-in sheet somewhere? Are we supposed to form a line? If so, where does the line start? By the time I got fed up, there were about five different parties waiting out front… still with enough empty tables inside that could’ve accommodated us all. I may be wrong and those tables were reserved for something, but communication and acknowledging customers are service-ship essentials. After 20 minutes of aimless waiting, we decided to leave and go to the burger place that at least had a line that led to people getting seated. Before getting to 1897, I expected to wait; and I anticipated the wait to be longer due to delayed/cancelled flights that day. We HAD the time to wait. However, the service was so bad at the entrance that I didn’t want to invest my time to find out how service would be if we got seated (if getting seated there was even the eventual outcome that day). Hence my review is only for their lack of service subsequently leading to loss of some business from a family of travelers. I hate to leave negative reviews, especially because we didn’t even eat here, but our experience here was well below unacceptable. This is not the kind of workplace culture any business should be nurturing, and I definitely don’t want this to be the norm or “standard” in our country. Our itinerary to travel from east coast to west coast usually has us stopping through CLT. Maybe we’ll give them another...
Read moreSaturday June 29, 2024. I sat at the bar at 7:55pm. The bartender immediately gave me a menu and I asked if I could place a to-go order. She told me I would have to go around towards the back to a different cash register. I did so, it was near the pizza oven. I waited 10 minutes for someone to appear at said register. I placed an order for a Charlotte Burger with fries, my receipt is timed for 8:05PM. The cashier seemed very cranky that I had been sent to her and muttered something about other staff just not wanting to walk back to retrieve to-go orders. After 20 minutes, the cashier asked what I was waiting on, I stated a burger, and she went to check. It took her almost 5 minutes to walk to the kitchen and come back with a box which she stated was not mine and that my food was not ready. I asked how much longer and she said she would check. There were others waiting to order at this point so she took their orders. At 8:30pm I told her to cancel my order because I had to leave or I was going to miss my flight. She rolled her eyes and asked me to wait and she would check and I stated that I had already waited over 30 minutes, my flight was boarding and I could not wait any longer. The doors would be closing at 8:40pm and I was a 7 minute walk from my gate.
On my way out of 1897 I stopped by the kitchen and asked the staff making food if they perhaps had a Charlotte burger and fries to-go that was ready. They quickly checked and said they had no to-go orders, making me question what happened to my order at all. I also noticed that there was now a different bartender, making me question whether the previous employee had simply been trying to be done with her shift. I arrived to my flight and was one of the last to board.
I did not have time to request a refund and left with no food, so I will be disputing the charge with my credit card company.
Perhaps the most disappointing part of the whole experience is that I have eaten at 1897 multiple times and actually enjoy the food. Typically the wait staff is prompt and meals come out quickly when dining in. In the future, if I need to get something to-go I will simply order at the bar or a table and then immediately ask for a box when I receive my food to avoid this. I recommend others...
