Last week I hosted my company launch party/ first annual holiday party, I am a regular here so I thought this would be an amazing place to do it.
Late October I had called to see what the steps were to book the back room at BUHO their rooftop bar. I spoke to their event supervisor Drew who said she would have the contracts drafted and sent over. Days pass and I called multiple times to get in touch with her because I never received any contract and I heard nothing. Finally, I went over to BUHO to ask to see her in person and ask that she send the contracts over. Days later I receive the contract, I send it back with the food menu I had requested and the credit card authorization form. We had agreed to charging the $500 room rental fee to reserve the room and then the rest after the event. A couple of weeks pass and I don't hear from her nor is my car charged to reserve the room so I emailed to confirm that I still had the room reserved, she confirmed I did. The lack of communication or urgency was strange to me. A few days prior to the event I had asked if the venue had an easel I could borrow for the event, Drew said they didn't have any. Fast forward to the night of the event, I went early to set up. Katie and the young gentleman who were our waiter/waitress that night was absolutely amazing. They helped me set up and even got me an easel that they had in the back that Drew said was not available. They were also very respectful and great to my guests; THEY are the only people I would ever recommend working with at this place.
Drew was nowhere to be found before and during my event. I rented the room from 6pm-9pm. Around 8:50 my minimum was hit so I had asked Katie to please bring me the check so the remaining guests and I could leave. While Katie was getting my check Drew came up to me very rude and demanded my card because she would need to charge me for staying past my allotted time. At this point it wasn't even 9pm yet and also....it's an event space. No one stayed past 9:05, you would think they would give people time to pack up and leave. I told her I was waiting on my check to close out and leave. I was really disappointed working with their events supervisor. The lack of communication and care was evident.
A few days later I check my bank statement, on top of the $6,000 minimum that I hit and signed a check for, BUHO charged me an additional $4099. I called and emailed drew and no response, no surprise there. I go BACK to the grand bohemian to talk to their director who said she would look into it and give me a call back. I never got a call but a few hours later I got an email from Drew stating it was an accounting error. no apology or even a phone call. the lack of professionalism here is CRAZY. Read moreCame here for a birthday cocktail after dinner. The greater said find any table and I will gladly serve you. We only saw one open table which would seat a group of 6 and it was reserved. We sat and waited to see when he would come by to see if this was an okay place to sit. Moments later another employee came up and snapped at us for sitting there and was very rude making us feel uncomfortable and we wanted to leave. I decided to stick around at the bar and just get a drink and head out. We stood in front of the bar for 30 minutes and NO bartender would make eye contact to help… I get they are busy but acknowledge us that’s all we need. I let the girls know Clearly this isn’t the place to be to get the bartender’s attention so I went on the other side where they were all busy anyway and again not acknowledging me at all. So I spoke up and said excuse me, where can I stand to be served and a short female with short dark hair snapped at me and said can’t you see we are busy?! And why don’t you stand over there. I let her know we’ve been there for 30 mins waiting. She then snapped back saying I didn’t see you. You’re in the way here and this is not where you need to be. But okay I’ll take your order. At that point I told her I would rather take my business else where. And I took my girl Friends and we went to Sophia’s lounge where customer service was great and it was a wonderful place to get a birthday cocktail. I am never coming back to Búho. Read moreI am compelled to share my recent disappointing experience at Buho Bar, a place I have previously enjoyed without issue. On my latest visit, my group and I were seated in a secluded part of the bar for approximately 35 minutes without any acknowledgement from the staff. It seemed as though we had been completely forgotten.
When we moved to the bar in hopes of better service, the situation did not improve. Despite my efforts to order, both bartenders consistently overlooked us. When one bartender finally approached, her demeanor was dismissive, interrupting me mid-order and walking away before I could finish. Efforts to address this behavior were met with further disregard; she failed to acknowledge my presence and did not respond to my inquiries.
This was particularly surprising as there had been no prior interaction that might have explained such treatment. The other bartender seemed to endorse this behavior by also ignoring our attempts to get service. The entire episode unfolded in plain view of other patrons, yet no drinks were served to us at all.
This experience was not only frustrating but also deeply concerning, marking a significant departure from the service I have come to expect at Buho Bar. I hope this feedback will be taken seriously as no guest should feel invisible or disrespected in...
