Went to Stokes for a Valentine’s Day dinner. We attended the Saturday before Valentine’s Day. We didn’t realize this restaurant is within the hotel and not its own standalone. We made reservations and actually got in an hour before we had scheduled to come in. The dress code for the place is just business casual. It makes itself out for a very fancy place but yet the waiters are all wearing jeans which threw us off. We chose off of a valentines special menu. It gave us a three course meal with an appetizer, entree, and a dessert. When we ordered our drinks they were unsure if they had the wine I ordered which was a search for them to find. They did eventually find the wine. The food was mediocre. The rice was overdone in my dish. The other entre wasn’t described as a pasta but yet it was, it didn’t seemed very seasoned. The desserts and appetizers were great with no issues with taste or presentation. We were served quickly, open kitchen so you can see your food being cooked which is nice. We were checked up on consistently and everyone was friendly. Overall for the price of the food it does not match. I wouldn’t consider this a place for a date night unless you just have money to throw away.

Open kitchen concept restaurant in the Charlotte Marriott City Center. Stoke was easy to find just off the common area of the Charlotte Marriott City Center. The décor was sleek modern with a interesting central, open kitchen concept and plenty of seating variety. The reception and the service were friendly and efficient although it seemed like the service staff was a bit overloaded on our visit. The menu is not extensive and is both familiar and with of creativity with a southern flair. All the ingredients tasted extremely fresh and seemed to be high quality. The cheese board was a nice selection. The salad was fresh and nicely presented. The burger was flavorful with fresh trimmings and good bread. The deviled eggs were very tasty. We did not sit at the bar and have cocktails on this visit, but I did notice they had an interesting cocktail menu and a small, interesting bar off the main dining room and also connected to the common area. The prices were right on target. Overall, I’d rate Stoke as a good value for great location, nice facility, friendly service, good food, and good prices. A good choice if you’re staying at the Charlotte Marriott City Center.

I've been wanting to try Stoke so we decided to come for restaurant week. After we made reservation, it was announced that Chef Coleman was leaving so we were there for his last night. We had an early reservation and were seated right away. We were seated with a great view of the open kitchen which was cool. There were four of us and we split our appetizers of the deviled eggs, hushpuppies, sticky pork toast, and pan roasted scallop. They were the best hushpuppies I've ever had. The scallop was amazing and the pork toast was very unique. For entrees, my husband and I split the smoked pork belly and the catfish. They were both incredible. The pork belly was probably my favorite, but it was a small portion. I finished with the donut holes for dessert. They were awesome. Three big donut holes with a ton of cream to go with them. No Heath crumbles for me since I don't like chocolate. The vibe is relaxed even though it's a very nice restaurant. It's not stuffy at all. I'd definitely recommend coming here for a nice dinner and hope the next chef carries on what chef Coleman started.

Awful experience, will never go back. A small group of us went to the Mother’s Day brunch (which was $70 for each adult) all of the food was cold other than the omelette that was made to order. Almost all of our plates were full when we were finished eating because the food wasn’t warm at all. There was also one server for the WHOLE place. We felt so bad for her as she was running around everywhere and wasn’t able to provide good service due to the fact she was alone. We had empty water glasses and had to clean up our own plates. Again not the waitress’s fault. We asked for the manager to voice our concerns and he was completely dismissive. My friend communicated our concerns about how the food was cold and was quite disappointing since they were charging $70 for the brunch buffet. He told us that the food is warmed under heat lamps so it shouldn’t be cold. We also mentioned that there was only one server for the whole place and he said he didn’t need more than one because there were managers there to help. There was a spill as the server was bringing drinks to another table and neither managers or any other employees offered to help her. She had to clean up the glass and liquid off of the floor while the managers stood in the back and made ONE drink together. There was another incident where the server was cleaning up some plates and such from a table and few utensils fell on the floor and the male manager watched it happened and just turned around. They didn’t offer to comp a buffet meal or anything just offered us a free round of drinks only after he walked away 15 minutes later. We asked for our check so we could pay and leave and our check sat on a counter for at least 10 minutes before it was brought to us and had to wait another 10-15 before it was picked up by the waitress.

I hope the waitress knows she is not faulted in any of this and management needs to get it together.

This was such a disappointing experience as my friends and I wanted to spoil our moms on their day. I will never be going back and feel so bad that our moms didn’t get the experience...

I would first like to say the customer service is beyond exceptional. Jordan is a phenomenal manager , Andrea is the perfect hostess and Maria is heaven sent, there was a young man that waited on me as well whose name I didn’t catch but one of the most sweetest spirits around. I’ve been in a hotel for 3 weeks due to my new home not being ready yet with my 6 year old who happens to be autistic. We came down for dinner and my son Jaxon wasn’t having the best night and I shared with Maria that he was on the spectrum and our situation ( simply holding adult conversation). I asked could my food be packaged to take back up stairs. Maria was beyond understanding and so loving and encouraging I’m sure she could tell I was having a long day and that Jax wasn’t at his best. She let me know that her brother was on the spectrum too and that she completely understood but it didn’t stop there she began to encourage and uplift me by letting me know how great of a job I was doing and holding it together so well. I needed that more than she knew. I thanked her and she kept depositing words of affirmations as I was leaving. Then around 9pm there was a knock at my room door and a man standing with a suit on and a bag in his hand. I open the door with the latch on because I wasn’t expecting anyone. This man said this is from Maria your waitress from earlier today , I figured i had left something down there well once I looked in the bag it was water , popcorn , fruit , seltzer for myself and a chocolate chip cookie. All i could do was cry because this small gesture moved me and changed my entire night. I cried for about 10 minutes because she was so intentional about it all. She didn’t have to but she did. I don’t have the amount of words to describe how special this was to me. I will never forget this ever in life. Being a mom with a disabled child is tough and others are not always kind but this let me know that thoughtfulness and kindness isn’t dead. It was displayed in real-time. I’m forever grateful and encourage anyone to visit and dine with this...

Used Stoke for a corporate recruiting dinner event - we used the private space near the back of the restaurant. The space was very cozy and perfect for our group. The food was served family style, which was a different touch, but not bad. ALL OF THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS!! Offering feedback in three different areas:

Vegetarian Options: the vegetarian options were very limited. We had two people in our group and they could only feast on the side items and I am 100 percent sure they were hungry after.

Service: There was one person working our group of 10 - and while a group of 10 is a small group...the service that Stoke provides is very upscale in nature. Our server could have used assistance with clearing the table, re-setting the table after courses, and drink orders. Our group, at times felt that a lot of time went by between meals and it took forever to get the tables cleaned up for the next course.

Attention to Detail: Had to request menus to be printed, as this is not a service that automatically comes whe you book a large party. However, I think Stoke should add this as an automatic option - if there is a corporate event, more than likely there is no one in the actual group who knows what's being served. It is great to let the group know ahead of time what's being served. Once the menus were printed - there was a ribeye on the menu and when entrees came out were were served fish (which is what was originally ordered). However, our guests expectations were set from the printing of the menu - again, they did not know what was ordered and went completely off the printed menu. During our dinner, the music started blasting in the room and we had to ask for it to be turned down - it was very loud and we could not hear anyone in the group.

Stoke is overall a great new addition to the uptown area and I am looking forward to having future events...
