bb.q Chicken Arboretum — Restaurant in Charlotte

SUUUUPER bummed to be writing this review. We have loved BB.Q chicken for a long time. We have endlessly supported this location due to it being the closest BB.Q chicken in the area. HOWEVER, we will no longer be eating here anymore.

We went in at 4:45pm, ordered, and got our food at 6pm. WE WAITED MORE THAN AN HOUR FOR FOOD. We ordered half chicken, small boneless, and rose ddukbokki w/ cheese. We sat facing the counter so we saw when our food came out. The small boneless came out first and sat on the counter for 30 minutes(!!!), then the half chicken sat on the counter for 10 minutes, and then the rose ddukbokki came out last without the cheese topping we paid for. People that came in after us were getting their food before us and when we decline to take/eat the COLD boneless chicken that had been sitting out and demanded a refund, the owner/manager offered 25% off next visit. That makes absolutely NO SENSE. They wouldn't give us a refund for the food that we did not take nor eat. We had the kid call the owner a 2nd time for them to give us refund to which they agreed, but I am STILL waiting for my refund 6 days later after being told it would take 2-3 business days. Either they forgot or they're being dishonest. The two highschoolers manning the front were so inexperienced and did not know how to handle our situation nor the countless online orders that were coming in. They kept telling dashers and customers that were there to pick up "5-10 minutes" only for them to be told "another 15-20 minutes" when they were approached again.

From our experience, they could not handle the amount of online orders and the dine-in orders efficiently. Food should be given to dine-in customers as they come out so its fresh, instead of having it sit around on the counter for a long time and letting it get cold. Delicious, high quality Korean Fried Chicken. I first found out about this place through a sponsored portion of the variety show Running Man. I had no idea that there was one local to me until after my husband's looked up the brand. Of course, being a fan of Korean food, we had to try it.

We ordered a whole chicken (golden original), a medium order of chicken wings (galbi flavored), and one ddeok-ki (sorry if misspelled). It took 20 minutes to wait for the food, which seemed pretty standard. Once the food was served, everything was delicious. The chicken was juicy and crunchy, which is my preference. The galbi seasoning was amazing. The ddeok-ki was very flavorful (would make a great late night snack). I think that beer would go great with all items on the menu.

The workers were insanely friendly and had good attention to detail.

I wish that more napkins were provided (and maybe a plate), since it was pretty messy. Also, it would be nice for there to be at least 1 high chair for small children.

I would say 5/5 for takeout and 4/5 for dine in. This restaurant seems like it would be best utilized for take out. I definitely plan on coming back to try...

today 7/20/2025 at 4:30 the store wasn’t even busy, maybe 1 other person besides me so I see no reason for the guy taking my order to give me a nasty attitude over nothing, i had came back to buy drinks and get utensils that were never given to me and he was extremely rude about it and kept saying “is that all” and looked bothered that i interrupted him eating while he should of been attending costumers, all I was trying to do was get a drink and utensils and give business to this company, never once did I talk to this guy in any way to be treated like this in fact I actually said nothing at all, he started nodding his head and whispering under his breath when I had walked in and that’s when the attitude started it genuinely made me not even enjoy my food because I was confused why I was treated so disrespectfully like i did something wrong and this is not the first time that this has happen to me with the same person. I love this place because the food is really good but he ruined the experience for me so the 1 star...
