Kung Fu Tea — Restaurant in Charlotte

My husband’s mango drink was good, but my Thai milk tea had a very strange and (to me) unpleasant flavor that I could not make out at all, it was truly unrecognizable as Thai milk tea. I asked the server if perhaps there had been an error with my order. She replied that I’m probably used to the bright orange colored and vibrant flavored Thai tea that most other places serve, that their recipe had recently been changed, and their Thai tea has a unique atypical earthy flavor. I really tried to drink it but just couldn’t. This has literally never happened to me before. I’m flexible about trying something new if there has been an order mixup, but in this case I couldn’t swallow the drink. The “earthy” flavor was almost offensive to me. I ended up politely handing the entire drink back, said I was sorry but I truly couldn’t drink it and didn’t want to dump an entire drink in the trash. I got no response, just a shoulder shrug, no offer to try something else, no apology, no true customer service. Nothing to make me feel valued as a customer. I suggest that you let people know in advance that your Thai milk tea is completely different than the “norm” so that customers are not left disappointed like I was. I would have also appreciated some little gesture, especially given that this is a newer recipe that apparently needs more market testing. We won’t go back to Kung Fu tea...

First off I want to start that I come here a lot and most times the experience is okay. However this may be my third bad visit coming to get boba. The drinks are delicious BUT the the consistency is not there. I come to get my favorite boba drinks and leave disappointed and sad. The first time I wanted a blue island punch drink however the fruit jelly part tasted stale and old/hard textured. I let that slide since it was the First time. Than I came another time and you guys told me you had NO boba to serve? I’m sorry that made no sense to me, it wasn’t even close to closing time. Now this is my third visit and now I had no choice but to write a review now. I just ordered a large Oreo WOW boba drink and the taste wasn’t there. I had this drink before so I know last time it tasted GOOD. But today it mostly tasted like I just got a cup of milk...felt like I had little to no Oreo as well. So yea the consistency is off. Also my sister order her drink with no ice and she got ice and the brown sugar boba was not up to par. I will still be coming back for my favorite boba drinks I just wish the consistency was...

It’s unfortunate that I have to draw the line when I get to this kung fu tea place! I am big on customer service. In fact it’s something that I proudly practice in my every day life especially being a delivery driver. I don’t understand why it’s SUCH A BIG DEAL to request that I don’t add something in my drink. I’ve been to other kung fu tea places and it’s never been a problem and even at other bubble tea places but this particular place gives me a hassle every time I ask my drink to be made a certain way. I like a coconut smoothie/slush with classic bubbles. On the menu they have a “piña colada slush” and all I ask is to just minus the pineapple and they tell me “they can’t take an ingredient out”.
