I recently had the pleasure of dining at Curry Junction, an Indian-Nepalese fusion restaurant, and it was an experience worth sharing. The ambiance is a refreshing departure from the usual Indian restaurant vibe—think chic, modern, and impeccably clean. The contemporary booths and sleek decor set the stage for an exceptional meal.
The culinary journey began with the vegetarian Man Chow soup, a standout dish that deserves special mention. This dark brown soup is a harmonious blend of vegetables, scallions, and generous amounts of soy sauce, garlic, chili peppers, and ginger. Garnished with chopped spring onions and served with crispy fried noodles, it offers a satisfying crunch and a rich, aromatic flavor profile. The depth of garlic and ginger, combined with the heat from the chili peppers, made this soup a memorable start to the meal and a true showcase of the chef’s skill.
Following this, I indulged in the Chicken Tikki Marsala paired with Garlic Naan Bread and a side of rice. Here’s where my culinary expertise comes into play: while the dish was expertly prepared, it leaned on the mild side. As a seasoned connoisseur of Indian cuisine, I typically find a spice level of 6 to be my sweet spot, but this dish was catered to a milder palate, likely due to regional preferences.
However, the staff, and specifically our server Parshu, swiftly addressed this by providing a side of spicy peppers. This addition elevated the dish, enhancing the flavors and bringing it to the level of spice I craved.
Overall, Curry Junction offers a wonderful dining experience with its stylish ambiance and delicious food. If you love your food with a bit of a kick, just let them know your preferred spice level. I’m definitely looking forward to...
Read moreI am not a frequent flyer when it comes to Indian cuisine as it just doesn't peak my interest as other cuisines do. So, my review may not be as thought out and valid as people who are more accustomed to it. However, there are a lot of things Curry Junction did well that makes them a respectable restaurant. The food presentation was great, the service was friendly, and the restaurant was very clean.
I ordered the butter chicken, garlic naan, and gulab jamun. I try to be careful and not go too crazy on spice at a place I've never been to before. I don’t want it to overwhelm the rest of the meal so I went with a 1 spice level. With that being said, the butter chicken was still tasty and I would probably add some spice next time. The garlic naan was a bit of a flatter style and it was not as fluffy as others I've had in the past. It could've also used more garlic and butter but it was still a great tool to soak up that butter chicken sauce. This was a good amount of food and ended up being two meals for me so I'd say pretty good value as well.
For dessert, I went with the gulab jamun which is something I've never tried before. It seemed similar to some of my favorite syrup soaked Mediterranean treats so I was super interested in trying it. The dough/bread balls were super delicate, soft, and really soaked up all that delicious syrup. It wasn't too sweet and the finely shredded coconut was an interesting addition. I don't know if it necessarily needed it but it wasn't bad. There was also a hint of like a burnt caramel taste somewhere in there too which I couldn't tell if I liked that or not. Regardless, it was a new eating experience for me, and I'd give this place a shot if you're...
Read moreI went to curry junction for the first time and placed an order for takeaway. I was initially quite impressed as the ambiance was nice and the establishment looked very clean and well kept. What I did notice was that it looked like it was understaffed as only one waitress seemed to be attending all the tables (although it was a very small restaurant). I was told that my order would take about 20 minutes to prepare. 20 minutes passed. No order. 30 minutes. 40 minutes. At this point, since no one came up to me to give an update, I went to the counter and they said it would take another 15 minutes. At this point, multiple people had come in, places to go orders and left while I was still waiting. I asked to speak to the manager, who apparently was the same woman. I told her it took almost an hour to receive my food. She offered a free set of samosas which strangely came out in less than 2 minutes.
When got home, the majority of the food was mediocre at best. The garlic and plain naan was very dry and hard. It definitely did not taste freshly made. Most of the dishes were watery and bland. The only entree that was pretty decent was the butter chicken.
Although the "manager" wrote on the back of the receipt that I would be entitled to a free entree next time, I will not be back. The food and...
