BrickTop's in Charlotte presents a delightful menu identity crisis, and I am absolutely here for it. It's the kind of place where you can witness a pristine plate of sushi having a serious conversation with a platter of deviled eggs—and somehow, it all makes perfect sense. This is the culinary Switzerland of upscale lunch spots, a neutral ground where every craving can find asylum. Want to feel refined? Order the Ahi Tuna Tartare. Feeling like you just finished a long day on the ranch you don't actually own? Pivot to a hearty slab of prime rib. This menu has more range than a pop diva. The atmosphere is a strategic masterpiece of high-backed booths, creating perfect little pockets of privacy. It’s the ideal setting for a discreet business deal, a juicy gossip session, or simply enjoying your meal without having to acknowledge the couple next to you arguing about how to load a dishwasher. The food itself was great, and the service was sharp and intuitive—the kind of seamless experience where your water glass magically refills itself. BrickTop's is a confidently versatile spot that manages to be both a crowd-pleaser and genuinely good. It's a solid choice when you want a quality meal without having to solve the puzzle of what everyone is in the mood for.

Bricktops is my new favorite fine dining restaurant in Charlotte. My partner had a business lunch there earlier in the week and brought home a fish taco for me to try. Absolutely delicious. We decided to go back this past Saturday for an early mother's day lunch. Everything was amazing, including the cocktail. We rarely break from our vegan diet, but when we do it is typically for seafood and I don't know about you, but if I'm breaking from a typical diet and splurging, it is just the worst to feel like you wasted the opportunity or are disappointed. And that happens. Not at Bricktops! Everything was well worth it and the price point is not bad considering the quality of food, level of service, and 'date night'/special occasion atmosphere. If on a budget, which I always am, I recommend going for lunch. The price point is more affordable and (on Saturday) lunch is served until 4pm, so it gives you ample time to go during those hours. I highly recommend Bricktops. And I don't think I am alone, the restaurant was busy at 3pm on Saturday. They do take reservations via there website through open table. If you do not see your time available on the site, call the restaurant, we were able to get the reservation desired using that method.

Tonight, this place was bustling with energy, which was unexpected for a Wednesday evening, especially considering the weather outside. The lively atmosphere from the moment I stepped in assured me it was going to be a great experience. The restaurant was consistently busy throughout my visit. The menu boasted a wide array of options, and I opted for the deviled eggs with millionaire bacon followed by the Panko-crusted Seabass with stir-fried vegetables, all of which were incredibly delicious. For dessert, I indulged in the cinnamon bread pudding, which was a delightful finish to the meal. The service was commendable; our waitress was attentive and accommodating. If I had to nitpick, I missed having some bread served at the start of the meal, and the lively ambiance made conversation a bit challenging due to the noise level. Nevertheless, I would definitely return to explore more of the menu. Given the packed atmosphere even on a Wednesday, I recommend making reservations, especially for weekend visits. Overall, it was a pleasant experience with excellent food.

2023 Update.....

= 4 star food/service, 5 star atmosphere = Party of 7 late afternoon for early dinner, seated on time, dining room not especially busy. Our waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable about the dinner menu. Slight mix up when the main course came; no one bused the appetizer and salad plates so there was no space to set the main plates down. With their hands full, we gathered the used plates up and held them while the main course was placed, then passed the appetizer plates off to the servers. It ended up being awkward; nothing everyone couldn't deal with, but awkward none the less. Food was mostly good, but not quite as good as before. Salads and appetizers were very fresh and tasty. Crab cakes and salmon were good. The short ribs were over done and overly spicy making the meat mostly dry with a spicy charred taste. (I didn't anticipate the spiciness, but that's on me, others may love the flavor.) The beef filet was just difficult enough to chew that the diner gave up. I noticed everyone loved the fettuccine side dish but not all finished their main courses or other sides; and only one wanted to take their leftovers home. Finally, no one desired dessert which was a tip off that they wanted the meal experience to be over with. To their credit, the waitress and manager came to the table after the meal to see if all was well, but by that time, we were done and it would have been improper asking to remake anything. So while not as great a dining experience as before, we would still return to BrickTop's and try other menu options. Expect about $35 to $50 per person (no drinks).

= 5 star food/service/atmosphere = What phenomenal food. 1st time visit for Sunday brunch, highly recommended by friends, and BrickTop's did not disappoint. Exceptionally good food! Our group had 11 people, yet all dishes were served at the same time and each plate was hot. Every dish was delicious. We sampled bites from each other's plates and everything tasted great. The Chicken & Waffles were great...never had that combination before and it was tasty. Prime Rib was juicy and tender.. The Steak & Eggs were much better than expected. The quality of the beef filets used was surprising...they were tender and flavorful. The chicken dishes were both excellent. Their brunch donuts & dips were freshly made, warm, and tasty. Absolutely try the candied bacon, get two orders to save time... you'll want more. The wait staff were attentive but not intrusive. 11 meals, plus several donut orders, plus auto-applied tip was still under $300 for brunch... And that was for outstanding food, served hot and fresh, with great service. We will...

BrickTops-10 out of 5 Stars!

First and foremost, A million Thank You’s to the lovely host Daylean and my waiter, Luis! & a special thanks to Binta for the recommendation.

My First Date at Bricktops… We were blessed to catch Sunday Brunch Menu but I didn’t really know what I wanted. This was my 1st time dining there, and everything seemed too fancy for my taste buds to understand by name. Luis assured my nerves entirely. Said he’s not worried, so I shouldn’t worry. He asked some questions about the menu and my personal favorites. But Luis is no liar, he wasn’t worried. He named a dish then began describing it in detail. Ten minutes later and, sweet Jesus! If this is the difference from fine dining and a restaurant? I am not fine at a restaurant anymore. Hopefully the picture explains enough of the perfect meal but if not let me add that the French toast tasted like golden cake, the chicken had secret spices, the home style fries (which are wedges at restaurants) made me dance. I didn’t want the ketchup after a while. AND THE BREAD!!!

I thought I didn’t like them at first. I think because the way they looked..elegant. But try 2 or 3 and your hooked. Can’t describe the taste but I had to get some for home!

Kuddos: We were greeted with one of the most welcoming, friendliest smile that we’ve seen all pandemic. It seemed to be a busy day but Dayleen kept her cool, and a warm smile through it all. All the guest waiting seemed to be just as happy and it was clear that she was the host to the positive energy.

After seated, we couldn’t help but notice how near the tables were. Cleanliness is always a major factor for me, especially with it comes to food. But the placement literally looked like a Pinterest photo; after the edits. (Kuddos to whose in command)

The outstanding gentleman, Luis!! You gave us an experience that we still discuss. You set the bar for dining hospitality. Keep your charm forever!

The food made me happy, the people made me happy. After a while; we began enjoying ourselves at a different vibration. With the help of a drink of course. I admire the flow of the staff, the beauty in the layout, the artwork, the open kitchen, etc. (Kuddos to Management/Staff)

Bricktops is truly a fine dining experience. A 5 star restaurant title does it no justice. Bricktops is 10 out of 5 ⭐️, a gem of its own. From the friendly and knowledgeable hosts, to the picture perfect staff and the amazing talented chefs. I’m honored to have experienced so many talents. A taste turned into a tradition.

Thank you...

I wanted so much to have a wonderful experience at this restaurant. My friend and I have been on a food tour for her birthday-trying recommended restaurants in the area. They all have been amazing until tonight. Bricktops has failed me.

From the front door to our waitress the hospitality was sub-par in relation to the caliber of restaurant. While they spoke no. Or them were friendly and frankly were snooty. Our waiter, Diana, and others who helped bring the food did not even speak. They literally just sat the food on the table and left without saying anything. Diana got lost for long periods of time. She did not Once refill our drinks until we were about to leave and that was ONLY because we flagged her down. She did not offer dessert at all. What a terrible reflection. How can you increase revenue without offering everything the restaurant has.

Our waitress Diana who paid us little to no attention also began calling us beautiful and gorgeous when it was time for the check and tip to be given. By this point I had already decided she didn’t not deserve my normally 20%+, she would only get my 10% minimum, although so believe that was generous.

In addition, there was a woman in all black that was going through with an iPad checking each table for something. She too, had yet to speak. Disappointing.

The food overall was sub-par at best. We started with the ponzu butter sushi and I must say it was AMAZING! After this we were excited about the rest of the food. Unfortunately, it DID disappoint. The food was not hot. The food lacked seasonings. After adding salt it was edible. I am a sucker for a burger and you would think that a $20 burger would at least have enough salt. The bitter beans were hard and tasteless. The chicken Milanese was good but again cold. To top other off our waitress pals up our food and brings it out. Only to find out the she puts my dry burger in the same box as my wet spinach instead of with my dry fries. 🤦🏾‍♀️

Although I could speculate as to why our service was substandard I won’t. These two young black women do not recommend this establishment.

Why am I writing this review? The experience was not bad enough to have a confrontation. However, I am writing this because I see this behavior not just in the waitress but in the fabric of the culture of this restaurant. I really...
