Unprofessional and Aggressive Security – Disappointing Experience

I came to this event with a group of 7, looking forward to a night of music and community. Unfortunately, our experience was ruined by unprofessional and unnecessarily aggressive behavior from the venue’s security team.

While walking through the crowd, a security guard shoved me—no warning, no “excuse me.” I calmly pointed out that a simple “excuse me” would’ve sufficed. His immediate response? He kicked me out. No conversation. No warning. Just straight to removal. It was a clear display of a power trip.

For context, another individual who was dancing on the stage was also instantly kicked out without a verbal warning. This seems to be a pattern at this venue—security acting with zero de-escalation or professionalism.

Yes, I resisted slightly on the way out—but only because I was being disrespected and steamrolled without cause. I wasn’t drunk, aggressive, or belligerent. I’m a sober adult, a U.S. Army officer, and a public servant with a master’s degree. I don’t start problems—I speak up when I’m disrespected.

Once outside, my group and I tried to calmly explain what happened. The same guard refused to listen, repeatedly threatened to call the police instead of hearing out paying customers. We welcomed the idea of involving law enforcement if it meant a fair conversation, but they weren’t interested in fairness.

This was not just disappointing—it was unacceptable. No one wants to spend their time and money at a venue where customer voices are shut down and where security acts more like bullies than professionals.

Until management addresses their staff’s behavior and prioritizes respectful, safe treatment of all patrons, I can’t recommend this...

What a disappointment in service and atmosphere wise. Food was great. Was out of salmon which sucked as I was looking forward to that dish. The main concern is the service and atmosphere.

As a server of 14 years it was clear the servers were understaffed and ours was both the bartender and server upstairs. From the window we watched the patio servers run around sweating through their shirts and we watched management go out to what looked like explain mistakes several times. Our server was so nice but it was clear he was doing too much to be on top of stuff which is not his fault that is management fault if u derataffed.He and the other servers were running around dripping sweat.

We also had to keep asking for stuff they should have had on the tables like napkins straws and condiments. We had to ask for sugar for my husbands coffee 3 times before I got up and asked another server. We had to ask for the salt and pepper from another table since the server was off running around and never got our ketchup for the potatoes.

The atmosphere was not nice either. It is completely clear it is a bar as everything upstairs smelt and felt like a stale bar. Everything was sticky and the bathrooms needed cleaning. When you hear brunch you don’t think the morning after of a bar trying to serve food to market off their real estate with hung over understaffed bartenders and wait staff but that is what you will get.

The only reason getting 3 stars is the food was actually really good.

If they set up the atmosphere better and got the service under wraps I would def go back and give it a second chance. That’s how good...

UPDATE 12/15/24: New ownership is garbage and Danika is gone. My dollars follow the talent and Danika really impressed me. When I popped in and got the scoop I immediately left. Best of luck...

ORIGINAL REVIEW: I've been coming here off and on since I moved to Charlotte at the end of 2018. Now that I'm living on this side of town I find myself coming here more often as it has really become my favorite spot. The vibe here was always great but they really seem to have stepped up their game in the last year or so Danica seems to be a fixture as bartender and she is fantastic! Loralee (sp?) has been there on Sundays and she is fun as well. I've been to some public and private events on the other side of the bar and the space is top notch. Marine Corps Toys for Tots event, and two other public events I've been to there in the last 6 months. They updated the outdoor smoking and drinking area which is great.
