I was raving about some delicious Mexican food I had eaten over the weekend to a co worker. My co worker suggested that I try Mi Pueblo. She stated she had gone once and the food and drinks especially were pretty good. I am a foodie and lover of reviews so when someone I know makes a recommendation, I'm definitely going to give it a try.
As I walked out of the office I decided to call to place an order for pick up. A very young sounding female answered. Ordering started out well but it seemed to go left when I began asking questions about the menu. I saw online that they offered tilapia (which I am allergic too), and haddock. I specifically stated 2 haddock tacos in hopes that when she repeated my order back she would confirm my selection. Instead she repeated twice "2 fish tacos". I decided to just ask if she could confirm that the fish would be haddock. Her tone then came across as if I may have annoyed her by asking this. She stated she was placing me on hold to ask someone. When I was placed on "hold", the line disconnected and I immediately received a text to my cellphone stating my order was ready. What?
At this point everything in my being told me to just forget about this order. Typically when things start out like this for me it usually ends bad. I never listen to my instincts. I called the restaurant again and told someone who sounded like the same young lady, that I was placed on hold and the line disconnected while waiting to find out the type of fish being served tonight. Without an apology or even a "my bad", she stated let me transfer you over to my manager. Then one second later, a male voice was saying hello and I explained all over again that I simply wanted to know if haddock tacos were available because I am allergic to tilapia. The manager seemed kind and understanding as he stated "let me ask the chef because we definitely do not want you to have an allergic reaction." I felt heard at that moment. He returned to the line to tell me that the fish tonight was haddock and I thanked him.
That little voice still kept telling me to just cancel because 1.It seemed like such an unnecessary hassle trying to place the order. I felt like I was interrupting the young girl from something more important. I told myself they were probably super busy and she had a lot of customers to tend to. I received a message my food was ready before I even confirmed everything.
When I arrived to pick up the order, upon entering there was a dj set up at a table who greeted me with a warm smile. Straight ahead I then saw what appeared to be alot of servers chilling out at the bar. Then to the right were 3 young ladies standing behind a booth. I assumed one of them took my order. The young lady who took my card seemed very nice and answered questions that I had asked about what was going on tonight. She explained they have a dj on taco tuesdays for anyone interested. I paid $34 and some change for 1 California chicken burrito, 2 fish tacos and 1 steak taco. I was too happy that I don't live far and headed home speedily to enjoy my meal since I hadn't eaten all day.
The first thing I bit into was the fish taco. The seasoning was on point however, it tasted like it was pre made hours ago. Nevertheless I ate it because I was starving. I opened the steak taco and it was cold. Like, refrigerator cold. I don't know if it was supposed to be like that or not but it definitely wasn't for me. I couldn't believe it. I opened the burrito and it was room temperature and the chicken was dry. I was so dissapointed. I was so hungry I heated the burrito and tried to eat it but after a few more bites it was trashed along with the 2 remaining un eaten tacos. I messaged my co worker saying maybe it's a better experience dining in like she had done, but pick up would never be an option...
Read moreThis was my first time going to this restaurant. I will share my experience because I think it’s important that people are accountable. It’s not that you will not make any mistakes, but what took place should not have happened and the manager basically came over to the table and was like Suck it up buttercup and the reason why I use his terminology was because he wasn’t willing to do anything for me immediately, but just letting me know because of the over charge that was made per my ticket I had to wait for almost 5 grueling days for this to correct through my bank account. I use my debit card and I was originally charged correctly and all of a sudden the screen changed indicating that I’ll pay for someone else’s meal so I paid over $130 when my bill should’ve only been between 60 to 70. The server was a young adult and she apologized but she was not attentive. This was a great inconvenience and despite this experience, the food and atmosphere was good, but if I’m going to go back a second time, I would definitely pay my meal via cash. Thanks for reading my review and I hope that the owner or server understands that no matter how busy your restaurant is that servers should pay attention to detail and should be willing to accommodate any errors made per charges immediately. It was an insult to my intelligence. When I asked him to cash me out to give me the difference he decline and was like no. I’ll just update it in the system and you just have to wait for your bank to do the adjustments. I was not pleased and I did not think he cared anymore than just making sure that I paid my tab...
