Great venue, roomy, comfortable, nice patio (disappointed the fire pit wasn’t going as it was super cold). Nice seating options: cozy 2-tops, open tables for 4-6 ppl, large cushy booths. Well-stocked large bar & good beer selection, IPAs, local brews, cidars, etc. 😋 Would’ve been helpful if tall European man waiting on us had shared the Wed special (2$ off local brews)when I was asking what I should drink. He was friendly tho & helpful with the menu for this first-timer. Large selection of bar foods, apps and salads, burgers, wings & pizza… the whole menu was really pricey & had a lot of fried stuff.
APPS:avg$14-15 tater tots,nachos, wings, BURGERS: avg $15! ENTREES(just 3)avg $24. Fried Fish & fries:$17!!! DESSERT:$9
The $10-$20 rating to eat is very unrealistic.
LUNCH FOR 2: $75.50 ($97.67 after tax/tip) 1 Wings, 1 sig punch, 1 draft beer, 1 Sm Veg pizza, 1 fish& chips 1 Choc cake 1 sweet tea to go
Wings: fat & cooked well (hate soggy).
Sig Punch: schnapps overpowered all 3 vodkas but asked if it could be diluted. Don’t know whether it was club soda or Sprite or simple syrup, but whatever it was it worked.
The veg pizza 🍕: crust was great like old school Neapolitan style, could taste the wood fire, but pizza itself was bland & needed seasonings. Salt helped but not enough. Very disappointing for price.
Fish and “chips”: the name made me think I was going to get fish and chips, but this was more like Captain D’s fish plank (which i ❤️) with skinny fries, not chips. The white fish was tasty in a good beer batter but the portion was lacking with 1 decent sized piece & 2 small sidekicks. it wasn’t awful, but this is far from fish and chips. Proper chips should be thicker in chunks or even sliced round. Tartar sauce should have capers and dill. (Coleslaw as a side is fine at Captain D’s, but would never be served with traditional fish & chips.) Where are the mushy peas? And malt vinegar? These fish and fries tasted ok but should be 8-9$, not 17$! And call it what it is, southern style fried fish plate, not Fish N Chips.
Chocolate cake was fine but over priced at $9 and a little dry
What we anticipated would be a $20-$40 max lunch, from the Google maps listing, was $100 for mediocrity. A $100 lunch should be memorable with consistently good dishes, not hit & miss. Especially since the scratch kitchen is used as a selling point… It’s felt more like pre-prepared food just popped in the oven or fried.
All in all it was a 5/10 experience and way over priced mediocre food, so not...
Read moreMany of you may not relate to this review, but some may, so here goes. If I could give 0 stars, I would. My daughter, who is in recovery, went here and ordered a Shirley Temple. She was served a "Dirty Shirley" instead. She took a huge gulp with her straw and almost threw up when she realized it was full of vodka. My daughter called me after she left, and I called the manager, who told me she knew about the situation. Evidently, the waitress had actually come to her and told her what my daughter had ordered, and they ASSUMED between them (despite the fact that the manager claimed she was well-versed in this because of others she knew in recovery) that my daughter must certainly have meant a spiked drink. WHAT ABOUT ASKING THE CUSTOMER?? When my daughter called the waitress over and told her what happened, the waitress went back and told the manager. The manager never went over to apologize or offer a beverage on the house...whatever. The waitress never apologized either. For a mother who has watched her daughter struggle and make choices to stay clean and sober every day for 3 years, I can't tell you how frightening and appalling this was. But to have it treated with such disdain was another matter. This restaurant handled this irresponsibly and unprofessionally and with no empathy or real concern for their patron. I found the restaurant website and wrote to the owners telling them what happened, but received no response. It has been well over a week, so I doubt if I will. Fits my opinion of the place. I would never darken their door. Find another restaurant that serves something similar and truly cares about...
Read more3rd time here. Never again will we be coming back. 1st time was awful all around. Service and food 0 out of 10. 2nd time (decided to give them a 2nd chance) and had a decent experience. Service and food was good. 3rd time... tonight... garbage can. We ordered nachos... chicken and beef. We expected bar nachos for $16. You know what bar nachos are. These came out cold, drenched in salty queso, I had 4 diced pieces of tomato, barely any shredded cheddar jack cheese, no onions or sour cream at all as promoted. We asked for extra jalapeños and I got 3 thin slices but they also come with the order. So do you only get 2 slices of jalapeños per order? No salsa to be found. Asked for some... got some sort of watery tomato grossness. My sons burger was mushy (the beef) and surely came straight out of a box. Server asked how everything was. We explained our gripes. OUR SERVER AGREED WITH US IN THAT OUR FOOD DID NOT LOOK GOOD AT ALL and the nachos were less than loaded. There were 5 tables in the restaurant and there should have been table touches done just in general by a manager. Now with a complaint like this, a simple acknowledgement could have made things a little better. However what we received was the server quickly dropping the check on the table and when she came back she said "sorry your food wasn't good". We then realized that this is an establishment that we will never again support despite living in the neighborhood. We understand that repeat customers isn't important to you. YOUR FOOD IS TRASH. YOUR MANAGEMENT IS TRASH. YOUR...
