We usually go to the Riverbend location, which has never let us down, but decided to give the South End location a try—big mistake. The experience started off on the wrong foot with a questionable fountain drink that looked like it had mold floating on top. We flagged it immediately, and it was taken back, only to be told that the CO2 was out. Because of that, the one Coke we did pay $4 for wasn’t refillable. Both of us ordered the drunken noodles and confirmed with our waitress that eggs were okay since we’re vegetarian. She said yes, no problem. When the food came out, it had no eggs. We asked, and her response was that because of tariffs, eggs weren’t included—even though they were still listed on the menu, and no one told us they were excluded when we ordered. Also… eggs are from the U.S., so I’m not sure what tariffs she was referring to. Maybe a bird flu shortage would make more sense, but still—transparency would’ve gone a long way. On top of that, if we wanted eggs added, we’d have to pay extra—for something that was already supposed to be included in the listed price. Then came the check. We both ordered the exact same dish, yet somehow my portion cost more than my guest’s. Lesson learned—we’ll be sticking to the Riverbend location. The food, the people, the service, and the atmosphere there are just on a whole...
Read moreId give zero stars if I could. I dont know what happened or who has been giving this place great feedback, but I ordered from them via uber eats few nights ago and received one of the most disgusting meals that legit angered me.
I ordered the beef meal that came with veggies and chunks of "angus" or sirloin beef cubes. The meat was both chewy and tough. Vegetables were bland, yet the broth it came in literally tasted like boiled dish water- as if someone left some dish detergent residue in the broth pot, then decided to reheat some iin the microwave before it got delivered.
The rice it came with was ICE COLD. I got hot beef, but ice cold rice. HOW.
The broth in the tom kha soup was already separated and settled, and looked like it was reheated leftovers made two nights prior.
And the mango and sticky rice dessert looked like someone's left over that they picked at, then threw in a styrofoam container to sell.
I ate a little bit of the beef then threw EVERYTHING in the garbage.
STILL waiting for a response for my refund because that was absolutepy DISGUSTING.
This was my second time trying this spot and I will not be ordering again. I was mad enough to actually...
Read moreI visited this restaurant 2 weeks ago while visiting friends in Charlotte. I chose this place because they were the only place I found that serves my favorite Thai dish, Kao Soy. I lived in Bangkok for a year and a half and was going through withdraw from this amazing soup. I ordered this meal with high expectations and... THIS PLACE IS LEGIT!!! It tasted exactly like the Kao Soy I'd get at the canal noodle shop near Victory Monument! The only difference between this and my favorite noodle restaurant in Bangkok was that in Thailand they serve it with a whole chicken leg that has been cooked in the broth. At Rai Lay, they use thin strips of chicken, which were equally good. My friend and I really enjoyed our time here and the server was very pleasant and attentive. A little on the pricey side (I tell everyone the only place to get great Thai food cheap is in Thailand where I could get this dish for about $1.50), but I will definitely be visiting this place every time I'm in Charlotte for this...
