So Much Bread, So Little Time! Okay, confession time: I don’t even know what a “trattoria” is, but Tony’s Pasta Shop & Trattoria has convinced me I need more of whatever it is in my life. Let’s start with the pasta. The homemade fettuccine? Perfect. Cooked to al dente perfection like they’ve got Nonna herself working the kitchen. Now, the bread situation deserves its own paragraph. I'm telling you, it’s like the disciples themselves delivered those 12 baskets from the miracle of the loaves and fishes straight to our table. They brought us one basket, we devoured it, and then they brought another like bread was going out of style. Sourdough, white bread, and this magical garlic loaf with massive cloves baked right into it—each bite felt like a divine intervention. As for the rest of the food, chef's kiss. The baked chicken ravioli with pesto was out of this world. My daughter’s chicken parmesan? She loved it so much she didn’t speak for a solid five minutes—just ate with laser focus. Even the Caesar salad was on point, and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t usually get excited about lettuce. In short, Tony’s is doing everything right. From pasta to bread baskets that keep multiplying, this place is a slice of Italian heaven. Will definitely be back, probably just for the bread… and the ravioli… and maybe the fettuccine. Definitely the chicken ravioli pesto!

So time to update, 10 months since our last visit here. This time our server was well, dysfunctional in his hygiene practices. His clothing, his oder. Not mention after taking our order he walked over another table and apologized for forgetting to put in there. After 18 minutes of them waiting. So not off to a great start. As we wait for our order we are taking note of obvious proof that housekeeping staff quite months ago. I recall the decor from last time and that hasn't changed. And now the food, we ordered different dishes this time around. So my beef ravioli was so far beyond salty that it was completely inedible. By far the worst dish this year. And that says alot. After 10 minutes of not touching my food and it as far away as possible from the server finally came by. Plate removed, I declined to order anything else as I no longer trust the establishment. Compared to last time, they have dropped from 4 stars to one in just 10 months. No as my wife continues to eat her overly oiled dish. Swimming in olive oil. I just sit here. 20 minutes after the plate was returned and not even a management follow up. I guess that explains the quick degrade of standards. Shame really, will now we know that this is not a repeat visit for our future. Well here we are in Chattanooga Tennessee. Of course my adventure starts here at Tony's. On first arrival we got seated in the smallest table I have every seen. Not sure if both my drink and my plate will fit. My server was sporting his combat boots. Fitting for a finer dining experience. Menu choices are plentiful, prices also in reason for the offerings. So a traditional Lasagna. As any Italian will and should be judged by his or her Ragu. As for the decor since I have time to kill while we wait for our course to arrive. Comfortable and simplistic. No odd, outdated or unnecessary distractions on the walls. Although some light background music would be helpful in mellowing out the loud patrons seated behind me. So portions are reasonable. But plating is less finer dining and more cafeteria. However, flavors are on point. Pasta, sauce, and overall dish was delicious. As for the gluten free pasta, cooked well, sauce ( sundried tomatoes and artichoke) just fell short. Not really any flavor to it. Worth the stop, yes. Will I again, not likely but who knows. So many more great finds out there for me.

I've heard great things about this place for years and have always wanted to go, so my friends and I made plans to have dinner here. And after my experience here I will recommend this place to everyone. We walked in and were told that wait time would be from an hour to an hour and 30 minutes (party of 6). We walked around the area and it took about an hour and 40 minutes to get seated. The garlic bread + oil & cheese dip were amazing. The bread had wonderful pieces of garlic that were soft and kind of caramelized into the bread. Also the bread pieces were large, soft, and had a great garlic flavor. It was absolutely delicious. There were so many good things on the menu, but I ordered the Chicken Tetrazzini. It was lovely. Once I took a bite of my entree, I knew I made a great choice. It was perfectly salted and very rich in flavor. It was creamy, cheesy, and the grilled chicken was good. There were so many components done so well in my dish. At first glance, the plate my food was served in looked small but the portion size was large. I loved that I had leftovers and extra garlic bread! Wait time was pretty long, but we had a wonderful view on the rooftop during sunset and we all had a great time. I look forward to coming back here again. This place is now a favorite of mine :)

As the granddaughter of an Italian immigrant, I have high standards when it comes to my pasta. Tony's is in the Bluffview Art District, which was founded by Dr. Charles Portera. I believe he was the catalyst for the rebuilding of Downtown with his vision for combining the arts and food. Tony's pasta is hand made to order and perfectly cooked. The first treat comes while waiting for your food as you are served a platter of bread made at the BluffView Bakery along with a bowl of olive oil and fresh shaved parmesan cheese. The bread has a rustic crust and is soft as butter on the inside. One loaf has cloves of garlic baked inside. You will find it hard to stop eating the bread dipped in olive oil.Today I had the cheese tortellini with a roasted garlic and gargonzola sauce. The Cheese tortellini had the perfect bite-sized amount of cheese inside, and the sauce was smooth and rich so it covered the pasta well with each bite. My companion had the cheese tortellini with classic Alfredo Sauce and declared it delicious. I will say the Ceasars Salad was the best I've had anywhere. The dressing was also rich and creamy with a nice garlic tone and it had their homemade croutons and shaved fresh parmesan cheese on top of chilled, crispy Romaine. Tony's is a pasta lover's dream come true.

When visiting this adorable Italian restaurant I told the waitress to surprise me with a dish that goes well with a chianti reserve. I was very pleasantly surprised with a delicious dish that complimented the wine excellently. The service here was impressive and the food was even better. During our meal, (my fiance and I) we had the pleasure of discussing the history of the chianti area of Italy and how their historic wine was developed with THE DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS that oversaw the venue in the area. He was a pleasant man that was very knowledgeable on culture and a good conversationalist. I have never been more impressed with service and food on a lunch date in my life. I would gladly recommend visiting the restaurant, the coffee shop across the street, tour the sculpture garden, and enjoy your time there. I hope this place makes its mark in history in this area and lasts for generations. Thank you to the people of Tony's, the director, the coffee shop, and the sculpting artists for making the first day of my vacation a wonderful one. Setting the bar a little high, so I hope the rest of my vacation isn't substandard and disappointing. You guys are wonderful. Thank you again.
