I was pretty disappointed unfortunately. I was actually really looking forward to it. It's my birthday, and we'd already eaten at a couple of other places in town over our stay. This was our last night here and the menu looked good and some of the reviews were negative saying that it had gone downhill, but I was hoping that you know those were just a few disgruntled people and/or that the management had kind of redirected and corrected any of those issues.
I generally find that often. A steak in a Mexican restaurant can actually be a great choice. Mine (asada) on the other hand was super thin, overcooked, and dry.
My wife ordered fajitas with steak, chicken, and shrimp, and we were charged accordingly, but what she got was a pile of onions and peppers and maybe a few pieces of protein.
They were out of tamales, which seems a little unusual for a Mexican restaurant. The "fresh" or shaken margaritas were OK, for $14 I would have expected them to be a lot better.
The service was OK, however, I had to move plates off our table so I could eat my birthday ice cream. If we are back in Chelan, probably won't be back.
Update: I reached out directly to the restaurant and their response was basically, that's okay, some people will like us and some people won't. Lots of people do so there you go.
It's really sad.

Read moreI am so sad this place went from being a 5 stars restaurant to 1. Marcela’s has been our favorite for many years now. My family loves going there and we go in a large group. Last night’s service and food were disappointing. The server took a while to take our order and when she did she took our drink and food order together. The red/orange salsa was super water down, not much taste. The beans had a weird taste they definitely did not taste like they always do. The corn tortillas has a smell to them and they tasted weird too. The steak from the carne asada was burnt. The rice portion was very small but half of the plate had beans. The beer was not super cold. When we informed the server about the beans she said she will go talk to the kitchen staff but didn’t return until she brought the bill. We paid for our bill in full $172.xx including $26.xx service fee. The surcharge was a surprise this visit as it was our first time paying for this fee. After paying our bill we asked the server what she had found out about the beans and she said there was nothing wrong with them. I explained we visit Marcela’s every time we are in Chelan and this was the first time we have had an issue. Our main concern was getting food poisoning. No one wants to get food poisoning while on vacation. We ended leaving a good amount of food on our plates due to the low quality of food...
Read moreWhat a great restaurant. When we came for dinner the restaurant was almost full. We sat outside and waited for a little bit to order but once we did it was good. The food was good. We started with chips and salsa. Two kinds of sauces one hot and one semi hot but both tasty. For the main dishes I ordered the ito burrito and it was enormous. Easily a two pounder. Full of beans, rice and pork in a tasty sauce topped with a green sauce and slices of avocado. My taste buds loved it. Every bite was a delight. My wife had the fish tacos with the tortilla soup and liked it. Unfortunately she didn't eat all of it because she ate before we got there and filled up with chips and salsa. I only ate half of my burrito and took the rest home. Looking forward to eating it later. For drinks I had a sprite and my wife had champagne. But we noticed that the margaritas were abundant at other tables as well as beer and many other types of drinks. The atmosphere was good. Really busy as the waitresses moved fast to serve everyone. We had three waitresses coming over to check on us. Even the bus boy was out making sure we were okay. Needless to say, we highly recommend Marcela's Cocina Mexicana. Try it. You won't be...
