Smashburger — Restaurant in Chesapeake

We got the single bacon smashburger, classic smashburger, brussels sprouts, and smash tater tots. It was a little over 20 bucks for all of that. Cheaper than going to a sit down restaurant and ordering a burger since they are usually 1p to 15 bucks for a decent one. I would order this smashburger over 90% of the burgers I have had to pay over 15 dollars for at a nice restaurant. It is way better than those!!! Pretty awesome.

We loved our food. The bacon smashburger tasted just as good as Wendy's Baconator but better to me. I did get it with no lettuce and tomato since I do not like those. The burgers were cooked perfectly and tender. They were juicy but not messy. The bacon was crispy. The bun was soft and it actually smelled a bit different more of like maybe an egg bun somehow? That is the only way I can think to describe it. It went great with the meat though. It worked well. Brussels were crispy/tasty but did not have any seasoning and seasoning would have been nice. They came with ranch dressing. The tator tots were the good kind of different you want when trying out something new. They were the smash tots which are seasoned with rosemary, garlic, and olive oil. They were the best tator tots I have had that didn't have cheese on them because they were cooked perfectly and crispy. I would get them again because I think it is best to have seasoning on any type of potato that is fried rather than plain. If cheese were an option I would do that instead. I love cheese. Also, I love rosemary. We went in at 10am when they opened (odd time for a burger joint to be open but yay for me lol) and no one was in there eating yet. Service was quick. We dined in. The cashier checked on us twice. There is table service too so they bring you your food. You get the drinks yourself since they have free refills. We just got water. After we were done eating she noticed and came to get the trays/our trash. She was friendly. The restaurant was clean. I did not visit the bathrooms so I cannot speak on those. I am ready to go back again. I would order the same type of food but maybe get the double bacon smash this time though. The more meat the merrier!!!! 5 stars. I really enjoyed the...

If you read my reviews you know that I love a good burger. Despite a couple of visits now, I haven't found it at Smashburger.

My first visit here was a carry out order. I was on my way to work and decided to grab something to go. I walked about 30 minutes before closing and the place was empty except for the staff. There was about 5-6 employees just hanging out. I reviewed the menu and not seeing anything that I wanted I opted to 'craft my own burger' as the menu says.

As always, I selected my benchmark, a variation of the bacon cheeseburger. The lady behind the counter asked if I wanted it large? Sure go ahead I said. Then on to the choices. First the bun, Wheat. Then the cheese, Sliced aged cheddar. Third the toppings, Lettuce, Onion, Pickles & Tomato. 4th, Sauces, Yellow Mustard. Last but not least the extras, Applewood smoked bacon. I added a large fry to that as well. Price came out to about $13 for these 2 items. This had better be good. I selected a table close to the counter while waiting for my meal to be prepared.

After a short wait an employee brought the bagged meal out to the table I was sitting at and off to work I went. I'd say about 10 minutes passed between getting the meal and arriving at my desk at work. I unwrapped the burger wow, what a greasy mess. First thing I noticed was that their "big burger" was a huge puck that was larger than the bun, sticking out all around it. Second, the burger was so greasy that basically the bottom bun had mostly disintegrated into a multi-grain mush. Last but not least, the large fry was a joke. If you compare Smashburgers large fry to say a McDonald's large fry, it costs a dollar more and it comes in a smaller container.

I found the burger to just middle of the road. There's nothing special here, certainly not enough to warrant the price they're charging. I did give them another chance, and on the 2nd visit I ate in, however the result was the same. Their model seems to be a copy of 5 Guys, but 5 Guys this isn't, not even close. Even McDonald's does a better job for about half the price. That should tell you everything you need to know...

( 08-18-19) As me and my boyfriend had just got off work , we realised we have not ate lunch that day so him and I decided to go to smashburger , we had never been and wanted to see what it was like , as we parked the car and walked in the outside I noticed was very well kept , but as for the inside..that's another issue.., as we walk up to the cashier I noticed she didnt seem very pleased to be at work , and secondly her smile and attitude was very unwelcoming, now as for the young man working beside her he was VERY and I mean VERY POSITIVE he smiled, said hello, thank you , all great things you would look for in a ( employee/coworker/friend ), all around nice guy . So when my boyfriend and I finished our food we decided we would like to try your shakes , we stood at the counter for 4 maybe 5 min waiting for the young lady to take our order. Not once when she was making the Ranch packets did she turn around to see if anybody walked in or needed anything , when she did turn around to take our order . Her smile was not real nor was her posture professional. While waiting on our shakes she returned to making the packets of ranch . Two more sets of customers walk in and they waited 5 min befor she noticed them as well. And once again I noticed everything she was doing from taking orders to making packets she just didnt have the energy that she wanted to be their ,& side note (you never tell a customer your waiting for a manager to do a cash drop EVER!! ) if it wasnt for the young man who stayed positive running food and helping out in the lobby area I probably wouldnt of stayed to even get my shake..he made the salted Carmel shakes amazing and the vanilla shake was more solid then shake but it was worth it . Will I be returning very unsure at this point ,was it worth my money I belive so yes . As much as I wana give you 5stars unfortunately the young lady really...
