We're customer who dines out often and we're well aware the current inflation has prompted the need to adjust prices due to rising food costs. However, to pay $9.45 for 2 eggs with cheese, is absurd! We had an order of pancakes w/meat and an order of French toast and requested eggs with cheese to accompany both orders. We were asked if we wanted toast as well, but we declined. The bill arrived with charge of 7.95 for "each" order of eggs and $1.50 for the cheese on "each". The billed arrived and were astonished. When we questioned why so much, the front cashier basically just shrugged it off with minimal response to our inquiry. Reluctantly, we paid the bill without further protest. And, again, since we're customers who dine out regularly, we still tipped and chose not to stiff the waitress. But this was a very disheartening experience to say the least. Good Morning...Thank you! We appreciate your timely response. Attached is the receipt for clarification and I'll happily call you today to accept your offer. Update: Please forgive my delay in updating my further experience w manager Chuck on the above experience. After speaking with the manager, I found him to be understanding and professional and willing to rectify the problem to my satisfaction. I was refunded for the charge error and also given a gift card for future dining. ❤️

A note on the music. The volume is fine. But it's not Sunday and this isn't a church so the Christian music really needs to go. Not everyone is a Christian and not all Christians like the music. I don't need or want to be preached at while eating on a Thursday afternoon. Thanks. I'm still getting used to "Coney Island" restaurants in the Metro area being more than just hot dog places. I'm glad for it, just adjusting still. This particular place has something I wish more restaurants had: tennis balls on the feet of all the chairs & stools. Since the floor is concrete this is a really nice addition that keeps the noise down in such a big open area. 👏 The menu is big. From breakfast to coneys to seafood, salads and Greek food. Yum. As it's my first time in here, and it's lunch, two coneys it is. They showed up - on a plate, not in a styrofoam container - about two minutes later. And they were tasty. I didn't witness anyone yelling or barking at staff or customers while I was in. Maybe I just missed the floor show between performances? 😆 The staff were fun, fast & friendly throughout my visit.

The chicken strips my daughter got were good. I got the fish and chips and 2 of the pieces were brownish and very dry. Told my waitress and was given 2 more pieces and 1 of the 2 we're the same brownish and very dry. I didn't take a picture but I found a picture of what I'm talking about.

To anyone reading the recent reviews below mine...from what I understand (I wasn't there and neither were 99% of the negative reviewers) it centers on a Facebook post where a customer alleges he found gum in his food and there was an altercation between the owner and this customer that supposedly got out of hand. However, in the age of cell phones and people recording everything no proof was offered by the customer of anything he alleges just his verbal description of what he says transpired. Oh, and this customer removed his Facebook post after someone informed him that his comments could be slander and he could be sued. The only thing the owner admitted to was handling the situation poorly. So, these negative posts are being made by people who read the customers Facebook post and chose this customer's side of the story as fact without any proof or hearing the owner's side of the story. And, no I am not affiliated with Jillian's in any way and I do not personally know anyone that woks at or owns Jillian's outside of being a patron who keeps coming back since discovering the place after moving to the area in 2012.

Here's what I can tell you about my firsthand experience at Jillian's and not what I've heard from someone through Facebook - Jillian's is an awesome family environment and a Coney style restaurant. Chuck is very friendly and donates money and food to many community organization (check out their posts on Facebook). I've seen birthday celebrations at Jillian's for some of the staff that work there where Chuck will take a quick pause to recognize his employee's birthday complete with gift and singing. I keep going back to Jillian's because it feels like dining at someone's house. Chuck has sat with us and talked more than once. We have gotten to know some of the wait staff by name, and when we came back from living in Florida for a year they told us how much they missed us and you could tell they were genuinely happy to see us.

Bottom line is this: you won't find a better family restaurant in the area. It is always packed which means the food must be good. And, some of his wait staff have been there since we started frequenting Jillian's which tells you he must be treating his employees pretty good for them to stay so long in a position known for high turnover. Don't believe all the negative comments - they are knee jerk reactions from social justice warriors that took sides without all the information. Don't believe my account either. Go see for yourself! You won't be...

A+ Staff F for owner

So, unfortunately I had to revise my previous rating. I have been coming to Jillians for years. My mother and I have made it a regular stop. We come in AT LEAST once a week, for the last 4 months. We were in last week, and I ordered the fish and chips. It was delicious! My mom tried a bite, and told me to remind her to order it next time we're in. Less than 5 days later we came in, today. My mother ordered the fish and chips. Unfortunately, her fish was raw. She almost never sends food back anywhere we go, but I insisted. Our waitress was super apologetic, though we assured her it was okay. So, they come back with another plate. It was apparent that the head cook didn't take a look at it before it was brought to the table because it was still RAW. At this point my mother has lost her appetite. Again, the waitress was extremely apologetic, and we again were understanding as possible. And then the OWNER comes to our table. Rather than apologizing he says to my mother, "we've been here a long time." And acted very annoyed with us. I said to him, "yes, I know, we've been coming here for a very long time." But I said this to the back of his bald head, because he wasn't interested in apologizing or in what we had to say. Extremely rude. I'm so angry. I loved coming here on average 2x a week. I love all of the staff. They are great people and they always make us feel special. Our food has always been fabulous until today, and a little mistake with training a new cook wouldn't have kept us from coming back. What will though, is the owner being a big rude baby. I can only imagine how he treats his staff. With all of the coneys there are not just in the area, but in southeast michigan, you think he would treat his customers better, especially regulars. And before the owner attempts to say, "this is no way true" take a look at the other poor reviews. Apparently this man has no problem treating his staff, his guests, and his own...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Jillian’s Coney Island absolutely blew us away! From the moment we stepped through the doors, we felt like we were walking into a place full of warmth, comfort, and genuine care. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming—like a hometown diner where everyone is treated like family.

One of the first things we noticed—and something that truly made the experience unforgettable—was the Christian music playing gently in the background. It wasn’t loud or overbearing, just soft and peaceful, creating such a calm and uplifting environment. In today’s world, it’s rare to find a restaurant that feeds not only your hunger but also your soul. Hearing that worship music while we ate brought such a sense of peace and gratitude—it truly made our hearts feel full. That spiritual touch made the entire experience feel extra special and meaningful.

Now let’s talk about the food—absolutely phenomenal! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and made with love. From the breakfast options to the classic coneys, everything we tried hit the spot. The portions were generous, the ingredients were high quality, and the prices were more than fair. You can tell the kitchen staff puts pride into every dish they serve. We left full, happy, and already talking about what we’ll order next time!

The service was just as impressive. Our server was kind, attentive, and had such a genuine, friendly attitude. It’s the kind of place where you’re not just another customer—you’re treated like someone who matters. The staff made sure we were well taken care of the entire time, and their kindness made all the difference.

Jillian’s Coney Island is a true gem—one of those rare spots that makes you feel good from the inside out. Between the delicious food, the uplifting music, and the welcoming vibe, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We’ll definitely be back again and again. Thank you, Jillian’s, for creating a space that feeds both body and soul....
