I am torn: part of me doesn't want to review them badly, but the other side of me wants to review them honestly.
My wife and I came in for dinner, last night, around 6pm, were seated quickly as there was only 2 other tables sat, and the seater filled our waters and left and came back with the menus. We looked quickly as we had a concert to go to, but still had over an hour to eat. Which we thought would be no rush for them. My wife and I asked if the "Mix Grill Tandori" would be enough food for the two of us and the waiter shook his head and said "no, no". So we ordered the "Onion Kulcha" and the "Gobi Manchurian".
About 15 minutes after he took our order, he came back and we asked him to make sure that nothing we had ordered had eggplant in it, because me wife is allergic to eggplant. Our waiter didn't know what that was, and asked the waiter serving the table next to us, whom them told him what it is called in India and then he said "no, no" to us again.
About 10 minutes later, the other waiter comes to our table and tells us that the Tandori plate will take about 10 more minutes. We tell him that it is okay and if they have any of the other items finished, they can be brought out first. That didn't happen and instead we had nothing but water for those 10 minutes. We waited about 30 minutes, in total for food.
Long story short: Mix grill has 2 over-cooked, rock-hard, rubbery shrimps, not "prawns" as the menu said. It had 2 pre-made, fish nuggets, not tandori cooked fish. It had 2 dry, red food colored chicken pieces, a small thigh and drumstick. It had 1 lemon, sliced up? It had 1 chicken breast, cut in 2 and each half was cooked differently. It had some sort of sausage item. NOTHING had any spices or seasoning. We didn't come to an India restaurant to taste bland food.
The Gobi tasted like it was given the hot wing treatment. It had an unnatural red color to it and wasn't spicy but almost over-cooked and mushy.
The kulcha was the best thing, but probably wasn't made there.
So, I paid almost $29 for 2 pieces of pre-frozen shrimp, cooked badly, 2 pre-frozen fish nuggets, 2 pieces of over cooked chicken, bland and season-less chicken breast pieces and a random ground meat sausage with no spices. The Gobi tasted like frozen cauliflower that was steamed in the microwave and then tossed with a hot sauce and red food coloring and topped with sliced green onion tops. That was almost $15. The Kulcha was good, but wasn't fresh. It was only $3, and good while it was hot, but a few hours later, it was rubbery and saggy. Fresh bread doesn't do that in a few hours, so this must have been frozen and then heated up.
The food was way over-priced for the quantity and quality. The food was way under-seasoned. Too much red food coloring in the food.
I don't go to Indian restaurants to eat bland food. I don't want this restaurant to close down. I want them to learn and make Indian food. There is no reason in the world that the chicken should have been bland. There is no chef, cook or even Indain Mom worth their salt that would serve a Tandori meal with hard as a rock over-cooked shrimp; let alone bland foods. I will never go here again. I will not recommend it to anyone. I wouldn't even go here if the...
Read moreA BIG NO TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE SPICES AND GOOD FOOD AND THE PRICES ARE OMG!!! Please take a look at the menu and prices before you plan to go. I would say the worst experience I ever had in the USA, I recently came to united states and I have been to couple of indian restaurants around me this was horrible not because they serve bad food. But the service was awful, we have ordered for a mixed dinner buffet at it comes with a chicken, lamb and a fish curry for $28. I do not want to talk about the taste of it, cos Im from the land of nawabs and I have had best dishes in my life. I would say a big no to all the food lovers of Indian because the way they cook would be loved by people who are low on INDIAN spices for example american's would love it. Because here you get BIRIYANI with dry fruits in it but they also add RAISIN to it. I would never comment on the cooking style everyone has unique thought. I would want to point this out, in my dinner thali which I order had 3 curry. Out of all the worst one's FISH curry was the even worst, The way it was brought to me was, someone intensionally or unknowingly or that is how they cook I do not know but it was completely filled water. I mean water was floating on top of curry. When I show it to the guy around, I just got an answer sorry and he left. After that I was being annoyed every single minute, "ARE YOU DONE WORKING WITH YOUR PLATE" should I remove the plate. I was actually planning for a desert and by the time he came up with a "check". While I was finishing my dinner, a guy comes with vacuum cleaner and cleans your surrounding table. The bad part was, I was having 'raita' which was just awesome and I could feel the hot air coming from Vacuum cleaner on my cheek so all this is because I see that they were about to close the restaurant and that is why they were in a hurry. Guess what I was at this restaurant on a FRIDAY night and I could hardly see 3 people in it and that explains everything. Guys a big no for this, I felt so bad I cannot tell, leave about the taste but the service should be improved and before you go to the restaurant look the...

I absolutely love this place. This is probably my second favorite restaurant in St Louis area. The owners work themselves. Usually Husband Cooks and the Wife helps customers. She has a great personality. She's always there when I go in and is always welcoming. She's right to the point with the taste for recommendations. If I am trying something new, she always tells me that if I don't like it she'll replace it for free.
The quality of food is fresh, unique...always beats my expectations. One thing I really like about this place is that usually in Indian/Pakistani restaurants, the Chef over powers the food with spices and you can never taste the meat/vegetables. Not here. They use balanced spices so when you eat Lamb , it tastes like Lamb while you can feel the spices in your mouth at the same time. That's called Quality. They also don't put too many Vegetables. Always a good portion of Vegetables and Meat.
The decor of the restaurant is nice. Furniture is good quality and always clean. The big windows make you feel welcomed. The staff is always well-dressed. I cannot think of anything negative about this place.
Last time I was there, a customer was upset because the restaurant closes at 9PM and if you come after 8:30PM you can only take a To go order. It sounds fair. The customer was pretty upset about it. You don't walk into a restaurant 10 minutes before they close, have some class and common courtesy.
If you are a fan of Indian/Pakistani cuisine......this is the place to...
