Imagine your favorite airport restaurant. Now imagine it actually has good food and service. That pretty much sums up the look and feel of 90th Meridian.
I was a little hesitant when this place opened up across the street from my office. The building it moved into, the Central Standard Building (formerly the Continental Illinois Bank Building), had been pretty barren for a while. After an apparent change in ownership, the building was seeing a revitalization of businesses, such as the wildly-popular Naf-Naf that opened across the hall.
I came here one day for lunch just to see what it's about. I was happy to see the full bar and ample seating. Our server was extremely friendly and happily recommended some of their local beers. Unfortunately, they don't list what the frequently-rotating beers are on the menu, so you have to ask every time.
As for the food, it's delicious! I got the cheeseburger the first time I came, and the chicken wings the second. The fries that come with the burger are extremely addicting, reminding me of the Crack Fries at Hopcat. The wings were tasty, but a pretty small portion. My only complaint here is that the food is pretty pricey, even for the Loop.
Surprisingly, the payment portion here is fun. If you are splitting a check among the table, you can do it all yourself on a handheld device the waiter gives you. This allows you to split payment by certain items and pay right there on the device.
I recommend this place for the food mostly, but they also have some good daily specials (such as half priced bottles of wine). If you are in the area,...

If you are ever in the Loop near the Exchange, make sure you walk into The Wintrust Building and go to 90th Meridian. The food is delicious and the service is awesome. We just got the crudités plate and it was so good! Also, the fried chicken is definitely worth the splurge. I always recommend my friends going home on the Amtrak to make time to stop before their train leaves. A word to the wise, understand that they mainly serve lunch and cocktail hour to local business people in the building, so it does get super busy around 12-1:30 and then again around 4-6. So if you don’t have patience or like crowds, it’s not your place. We were lucky enough to sneak down there around 2 to grab a quick snack and a cocktail with friends visiting town and Sofia and Leah were such a good time! It’s like introducing your friend to a...
Read moreI work close to 90th Meridian and happened to have a working lunch there today. I was a bit worried because I am currently doing a diet called Whole30 which has a lot of restrictions. In an effort to avoid the hassle of asking about every ingredient used in a dish I have refrained from eating out. So when a working lunch was thrown on my calendar I was worried.
But I definitely shouldn't have been, I sent an email and explained my dietary restrictions. I received a reply very quickly from a very helpful man named Patrick. He helped me find a dish that could be adapted to Whole30 and ensured the front staff knew about the restrictions. The best part, the meal was delicious!
I highly recommend this restaurant. The staff was attentive and helpful, the food was delicious, and the restaurant itself was comfortable and...
