This restaurant is part of the W hotel. I was only staying there one night, but I wanted to take myself out to dinner solo. The first drink, the Sweet Rose and the entrée the Blackened Salmon were delicious! Both items had great flavor profiles and we’re really tasty. The problem came at dessert, initially I wanted the chocolate cake. However, it took service staff 15 minutes to tell me that they were out of chocolate cake upon making another selection that donuts that took an additional 30 minutes to arrive. It was obvious that other orders, particularly those on the patio to the priority. When dessert finally arrived at 10:15 PM rather than receiving the blueberry compote, it came with plain white icing, as well as the other two dipping sauces, caramel and chocolate. It also came with five regular size cake donuts, dusted with powdered sugar which which is too much for one person. In general, the dish was too sweet, and the flavors just weren’t there just sugar. Two of the donuts were also slightly burnt, I assume with the kitchen trying to finish out orders. If the restaurant has the opportunity to make changes to this dish, I would swap the cake donuts for a yeast donut or beignet. And for your sauces, do a raspberry jam, a salted caramel, and a chocolate mousse with the powdered sugar on the side. I also wanted to pair the desert with another drink, so I got the Gold Rush but that was just bitter and sour in a bad way and again needed something to break up the flavor, like mint or time or basil. Though , the tail end of my meal didn’t end well, the wait staff were nice and super apologetic, and even gave me a discount for the super long wait on the dessert.
From what I can tell this restaurant is not wheelchair accessible. There were five or six steps to get down to the restaurant portion of the hotel. When I looked around the corner to see if there was a ramp, there were three steps leading up back toward the lobby. If there is a ramp to the restaurant portion of the hotel, it is not clearly marked or in view for...
Read moreI think this place has potential. Sadly, the customer service experience was a little disappointing. To be fair, one bartender was friendlier and more accommodating than the other bartenders. I wish I remembered her name, but look for the lighter-haired one. She will treat you better. I was literally standing right in front of the male bartender, waiting for him to acknowledge me, as he seemed to be busy doing something else, and I think he would have ignored me the whole time if I didn't speak out and told him I wanted to order a cheese platter. Is it possible he thought that I was just standing there and staring at him? Anyway, added to that, I had called multiple times a week before, on the days and times when they were open, as I wanted to make sure that we had a table since I was bringing in 10 people with me. I left a voice mail to their manager and spoke with someone who claimed that she was a sous chef and who told me that she would have someone call me back, and guess what, no one did. There are not a lot of bars or restaurants by the lake. And considering how great a location this place was at, sadly the staff and the manager were...
Read moreOnce more, chef Jonathan Meyer, the seasoning God, kills it at Current! (If you were a fan of Broken Shaker food, back to when it first opened, then you definitely need to visit this place). Last night was my second time going there and it was still as good as my first time there! The hummus is perfectly seasoned, come with crispy chickpeas and the flat bread is crunchy on the side while warm and soft in the middle and sprinkled with sea salt. The pasta (my favorite dish) was also a delight and cooked in an gin essence sauce (I believe) with cherry tomatoes, parmesan and another cheese I can’t currently recall 😅. My boyfriend got the gnocchi and it was really good too. I wish I had taken a photo of the first time we ate there because he got the lamb and it was such a fire dish!!! Will definitely be back because I have my eye on the monkey bread with smoked tomato sauce and caramelized mozzarella (I MEAN, COME ON!!!). Other than that, the service was good both time we were there with a tiny emphasis on last night as we sat outside rather than at the bar and had an actual waiter. It is a nice and quiet place and has a beautiful decor. We will...
