The price for a sausage egg and cheese bagel plus tax and forced tip was $17.30. Yes you read that correctly. I used to go to the location in Madison, WI when I was in college there instead of going to Einsteins. It's been 10 years but there is no way in heck that the cost of this should be near that. I ordered a spicy sausage, soft fried egg and cheese on an everything bagel and that was it. As you can see the bagel was huge and the fixings were all skimpy. 1 extra thin slice of cheddar, 1 small egg and a mini sausage patty is what they consider reasonable portions. Then to top it off, when I was paying it automatically added a tip even though I was taking it to go. Tips on to go orders are insane.
The worst thing was that the gentleman in front of me ordered a chocolate milk for his daughter and the service was great and cheery. Once the cashier with the blond hair and glasses heard us talking about Trump and all the great things that have been happening politely, the cashier became upset and clearly changed his service quality. Gave the food the to gentleman with an attitude and did the same for me. Put your emotions to the side bud. We pay $15 for a bagel and not attitude. Never going back to Gotham Bagel and sticking with NYC Bagel Deli on Dearborn and Illinois. Best fresh bagels in Chicago hands down. When you tip there willingly, the whole crew says thank you and even the guys in...
Read moreI will start by saying that I am a big fan of the Lakeview Gotham location. But the Magnificent Mile location was the biggest disappointment. It’s like night and day. Absolutely no work ethic or customer service whatsoever. We arrived at 1:20 pm (40 minutes before closing) and were told “sorry we already turned off the coffee machines” when I tried ordering a matcha latte. The bagels came with a tiny bit of cream cheese, basically next to nothing. Again, this was the opposite experience from Lakeview Gotham where they always give you a lot of cream cheese. Lastly, at 1:30 pm they emptied the water dispenser because god forbid any customers would want water in the last 30 minutes. Horribly dissatisfied and disappointed, I don’t know where the lack of work ethic comes from - but this was really unacceptable, they don’t deserve any business when you make it next to impossible to do business with. Desperately trying to end your work day early and shooing your customers away as a result is utter nonsense. If you don’t want to work, don’t work. I recommend you make the trip to the Lakeview location if you love great bagels and great service, the Mag Mile location does not...
Read moreI was very excited to try this place since I heard about them opening. I love a good bagel especially a brekky bagel, and it was close to work. However it was disappointing from the beginning, I went during the week late morning so it was pretty empty with the exception of an older gentleman waiting on his order. I walked up to the register and checked out the menu and waited, and waited, and waited. It was a good bit of waiting before the cashier stopped talking to her coworker before they acknowledged me being there, I placed my order and waited. They did take about 10 minutes to get me my order and I was on my way. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I've had a better bagel at mcds (which is giving the golden arches a lot of credit) the bagel was hard in that it was on the verge of being stale not even toasted. The bacon was to undercooked for my liking and it didn't seem like it had any cheese, over all bland, and for a $15 brekky sandwich it was just not worth it (and yes with taxes I spent that on just the sandwich, no coffee, no sides just the sandwich). Will I go again probably not and honestly there's plenty of other places to get...
