My Sales & Marketing team and I were attending the Annual NASS Conference in Chicago and I am the Experience Marketing Specialist for our company based in San Diego. I was looking for a fun place with games, food and drinks for the team's group dinner. Since we were all staying at the Sofitel Magnificent Mile, I wanted to find a place close by. Streeter's Tavern came up in my search and their gallery enticed me so much that I reserved the private area for our group on a Tuesday night and was very pleasantly surprised that they were only 900 feet away from our hotel. They cook food onsite, but they partner with restaurants to have the food delivered after choices are provided off of the menus. The first thing that caught my eye was the entrance because the door went down to the basement it seemed and the whole look of the place was just so cool! When I got onsite before my group to get everything set up and stepped down into the bar, it was perfect! We are so over going to these fancy expensive restaurants; I wanted a place where we could actually have fun as a team! Everyone, I mean EVERYONE, including our executive, LOVED IT! The dimly lit dive bar in a basement was fantastic! It was obviously a LOCAL bar with pool table, darts, beer pong and a juke box; and the food they brought in was very good. I'd give them 10 stars if I could because they made me look very good in front of my Executives and the vibe was on point! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE IF YOU LOVE A GOOD DIVE BAR NOW AND THEN. I plan on brining my husband, daughter and her fiancée to Chicago and I will definitely take them there! Thanks Streeter's Tavern! YOU and YOUR STAFF...
Read moreAs a person that works in the industry and a person who's first impression of this place went horrible, I would like to state that this place is terribly unprofessional, there staff not only attacked me and 5 other staff member of my establishment upon entering a place that claims 4 am, there door was unlocked so we entered thinking it was open upon entry there was 6 people at the bar they looked at me and my coworkers and yelled "GTFO WE ARE CLOSED". Upon this approach we apologized and said we thought it was open because the door was unlocked and the online site said open till 4. The security walked up to me an my friends extra agressive as we were already walking out he tried to get physical and I had to tell him to back off and not to touch us as that's what his intentions and approach was I told him we were leaving and didn't need to be attacked. Upon leaving I told the 6ft 3 person to lock his door if there were closed and to learn how to treat people with respect and politeness. The bartender wasn't any nicer she was the one yelling at us to GTFO as if we knew they were closed upon entry. I would never go here or recommend anyone here!!! The staff is overly agressive, rude and extremely...
Read moreonce one of the greatest bars downtown, now a shadow of it's former self. streeter's was a staple of the downtown experience. it had character. it had style. it had games. it had the staff to make you feel like you were a part of something personal. now almost everything that made this place special is gone. it feels inorganic and soulless. out of loyalty, ive made an effort to drink here in hopes that this is just a phase and everything will return to it's former glory after the lockdowns. today ends that effort. upon arrival tonight, my patronage was turned away after the man behind the bar concluded that i "had too much to drink." his basis for concluding this was that it took me too long to "put on my mask" after he asked me to when i sat down at the bar. i have no idea why i was asked to put on a mask at the bar when no one else appeared to be wearing one, but that moment ended any feeling of loyalty i had in giving my business to this bar. clearly if they can turn away the business of someone who's been on a first name basis with most of the staff for half a decade, things must...
