Overall we did not have a great experience here. The buffet was more than the omelets, which no big deal it is what it is. We decided to go to Maria's for breakfast one morning at the recommendation of my boyfriend's father (who hasn't been there in years). The staff were all friendly, but the atmosphere and cleanliness were awful. To start, the place was very empty, and while I typically do not care what the staff wears, I think the place would look better if the host wasn't wearing clothes that looked like pajamas. That aside, we were seated quickly but the booth we were in felt sticky and the table had something on it that the waitress slid our silverware through. Then when I went to open my silverware I noticed that mine were filthy! Gunk was caked all over the fork, the knife had a spot, and even my glass had a chunk of something stuck to the outside. We decided to look past this and get clean silverware and try to enjoy our meal. Well I ordered the buffet and when I went up to get my food there were two stacks of plates at the fruit bar and two at the other bar. The top plates at the fruit bar were nasty. The one looked like it had cheese stuck to it and the other looked almost dusty. Luckily the plates at the hot bar weren't so bad. But then the food at the hot bar is just stuck in plastic containers that were floating on nasty water that wasn't even steaming. Moving on past this, when I went to go back to my seat my boyfriend told me to look at the wall which was covered in flies! Overall I wasn't happy about any of this, but we looked past it and ate our food, which wasn't all that good. Not long after finishing his food mt boyfriend says he needs to poop bad, and we walked to Maria's from our hotel. Well we speedwalked back and he made it to the bathroom. But then while he was in there my gut started hurting and I suddenly I had to poop and could barely hold it. The food we had at Maria's was all we had to eat that morning so I do believe the food made us sick. Needless to say, we won't...
Read moreWas on Chincoteague Island for the weekend and wanted to have a nice, diner style breakfast so I took the family to Maria's. The dining room was on the run-down side and didn't give off a positive vibe. They had a broad breakfast menu and my wife and daughter decided to order off of it while I opted for the breakfast buffet. My wife and I ordered coffee with cream. The coffee came out quick enough, but no cream. We asked the waitress for cream. Almost 10 minutes later I got up and went looking for cream myself. We had seen the waitress walking to different tables, and at one point she had a bowl full of creamers, but it never made it to us. More on this below. I then went to the buffet and it featured small square biscuits, sausage gravy, cream chip beef, sausage, bacon, french toast, pancakes, eggs, and grits. The sausage gravy and creamed chip beef were not being heated properly on the buffet, the sausage gravy having cold spots while eating it. The biscuits were very dry. The bacon, sausage, pancakes and french toast were good. The eggs were pale and wet and looked like instant eggs and very unappetizing. When I got to the table, we had no utensils, so I got up and took some from an empty table for myself. When my wife and daughter's food arrived, my wife said, we need utensils. My daughter swore that she saw on the waitress' tray two sets of utensils, but she didn't give them to us. The waitress then brought one set. My daughter said, Uh, I need some, too. And more were brought. My wife ordered the waffle, and we had to ask for butter to be brought. My daughter ordered creamed chip beef, which was underseasoned and needed salt. The grits were good. Our over all impression was that this was a poorly run restaurant. We left unsatisfied and wishing we had gone...

From a culinary professional's perspective, the food here is terrible. The award from 2009 they have on display up front that brags about how fresh their seafood is and speaks very highly about the establishment in general. This was NOT our experience. The food was overpriced and sub-par.
Here is what we ordered:
Delmonoco Steak with shrimp $28
This looked and tasted more like a select grade steak which was overcooked 2 levels past my request, then haphazardly splashed onto the plate. Shrimp was clearly frozen pre-made. Green beans were straight from the can. and overcooked resembling something from a school cafeteria.
Seafood Dream $18.99
Wow... What was obviously canned crabmeat was not fresh and had a strong odor to it. Scallops weren't fresh and were overcooked. The dishe's preparation seemed to be nothing but arranging Shrimp, Crabmeat and Scallops into a dish, drenching them with what seemed like margarine with no herbs and placing it in the oven.
Kid's Pasta with marinara $5.59
Pasta was far past aldente and sauce was clearly from the can.
Chicken Alfredo $16.99
Pasta was undercooked but the sauce and chicken was good to be fair.
Cheese Pizza $6.99
Whew... The smell of the overfermented dough was overpowering in both taste and smell. It was to the point that my daughter couldn't eat it. Everybody who tried to help her was also overwhelmed by the smell and couldn't do it. My daughter said her school cafeteria Pizza was better.
Chincoteague Fried Oysters $18.99
These were actually good.
Appetizers
Calamari $10.99 and Maria's Sampler were good, but definitely over fried in old oil.
Suggestion- Go to Bill's Prime Seafood and Steak. It was cleaner and tastw and quality...
