We stopped at Applebee's on our way home from a marathon day of baseball, hoping for a relaxing meal. Unfortunately, our experience fell short of expectations right from the start. Upon entering, there was no staff to greet us, and we waited nearly 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged our presence. During this time, three more families arrived, and it became apparent that the restaurant was quite busy, with several tables still awaiting service as I walked to the restroom.
Our server, a young woman who seemed to be doing her best, was clearly overwhelmed with numerous tables to attend to. It was frustrating to observe that a family seated after us received service before us, despite our earlier arrival. This delay was especially irksome after a long day.
As for the food, it was average at best. I opted for an appetizer and a salad, which were satisfactory but not remarkable. My son ordered the FOUR-CHEESE MAC & CHEESE WITH HONEY PEPPER CHICKEN TENDERS. He noted that while the chicken tenders had good flavor, the macaroni and cheese sauce was disappointingly watery.
On the other hand, my husband was pleased with his choice of the bourbon steak. He found it satisfying and well-prepared.
Throughout the meal, we faced challenges with drink refills, likely due to our server being stretched thin with her responsibilities. It's clear that improvements are needed in managing both the front-of-house staffing and service flow during...
Read moreWe have an Applebee's restaurant directly across the street from our house and choose to drive 10 miles to the Chippewa Twp. location. Are we glad we did!! The appetizers are half price from 4pm - 6pm and our server let us know we only had 6 minutes to decide or the discount would end. We grabbed 2 different apps which to my surprise were full size, and only paid half price !!! Our entrees arrived and to our surprise, were done perfectly and quite tasty I might add. To top it all off, they had a "Bahama Mama" drink special for $1.00 !!! I personally don't like that drink but my wife was very, very happy needless to say. The restaurant floors, tables, and bar area were all clean and looking good. They had plenty of staff to accommodate any number of guests and the Manager stopped by each and every table to ensure everyone's meal was to their liking. If your looking for a fair priced, comfortable atmosphere place to go, give Applebee's Chippewa a shot. You won't be...
Read moreI'm not sure what has happened to dining establishments in the Chippewa area, but my experiences at this and other restaurants have been lacking of late. There were few other patrons when we (3 adults and a 2 year old) arrived. We were seated promptly, but then waited between 10 and 15 minutes before even placing our drink order. What followed was a wait of approx. 25min for our appetizers/soup to arrive. The pretzels and beer-cheese dip were good, but at least one of the four pretzels was still partially frozen/cold, and wet. Our dinner took another 20min or so to arrive, though it did thankfully arrive as ordered, i.e. steak cooked to the desired temperature, etc. The final frustration was having to finally ask for our check, and to walk out to the sight of six tables in need of being cleared while numerous patrons had been waiting for at least 15min. All in all, decent food, lackluster dining experience...I suspect it got worse for those who...
