Z Pub & Diner — Restaurant in Chippewa Township

I've been here twice. My first visit would have gotten a solid 4 star, and the second a 2. Going with 3 for the average. Their happy hour is great. The place is super classy looking inside for a diner, great old rock and roll posters etc.The first time I got the turkey dinner, delicious plentiful comfort food. Our waitress was great, attentive but not overbearing, genuine. Second time, we decided to get the tacos on special for taco Tuesday. That week happened to be salmon with some kind of slaw. We were starving so anything would have tasted good, yet it was terrible. It came with fries, which was already a weird combo. It said they were baja fries, but I got no hint of that unless by baja they meant cold. It came out fast enough that is was apparent they were just sitting back there.The tacos were small, lukewarm, the salmon was fishy and tasted like it had been in a freezer for years, and that fishy freezer burned was the only taste to the tacos. Our waiter was a Jersey shore type and did the bare minimum. I never send food back, because I fear angering the kitchen. The only time my food has been sent back is due to my lack of a poker face and caring wait staff. Anyone would be able to tell I was unhappy, but dude did not pick up on it. I managed to power through most of it (like I said I was starving) by throwing on some hot sauce and using a lime from my drink on them. I'm just glad I didn't get sick. So, overall, go, especially for happy hour drinks, but for goodness sake do not trust...

My girlfriend and I went to Z Pub on Saturday 02/01/2020 around 2:45 P.M. for the first time.

The bar area was pretty packed but the restaurant was practically empty.

Our experience was less than pleasant.

The waitress was very personable and nice.

My girlfriend ordered a particular draft beer..... the waitress went to get our drink order. When she came back with my drink she told us that the draft "kicked this morning". (Something that I think that she should have known when we first ordered it.) She then ordered a bottle of Lagunitas. It was brought to us (without a glass) and it was skunked...... she then ordered another draft and it was fine.

We each ordered a burger. My GF ordered a "The Works" burger and I ordered a cheese burger with extra pickles. When our food came she took the bacon off of her burger because it was EXTREMELY under cooked.

Mine came with only 2 pickles. Our fries tasted good but the biggest fry on either of our plates was only about 1 1/2 inches long with most being 1/8- 1/4 inch making the presentation of the whole dish very unappealing.

At the end of our meal (most fries being uneaten) I told the waitress the situation and her reaction was pretty close to "oh i'm sorry- here is the check."

I kind of expected a manager to come and rectify the situation when these kinds of things happen but that wasn't the case.

We will not be going back to this...

My husband and I went to ZPub last night for dinner. We were pretty disappointed. We were seated out on their patio. It took a while for the waitress to come to our table. I ordered the sampler appetizer and my husband ordered the Jacked Up Burger and I ordered the Three Cheese Burger both with onion rings. We sat there for at least 25 minutes and had yet to receive the sampler appetizer. My husband caught the waiter that brought a sampler appetizer to the table next to us. My husband said that we have been waiting a while for the appetizer. The waiter said he will get one made asap and it will be out and it bit and will no charge. Our burgers came out ten minutes later. We both ordered onion rings. I got only four and my husband got six. The onions were very small and were not even warm. Half through our meal we finally got the appetizer. I had two glasses of pop. My husband had three small draft beers. The waitress really could have cared less about us. She never came and asked us if we needed any and how was our dinner. When we got the check I believe we were still over charged. But my husband did not care because it was my birthday. What topped of this experience off is the waitress shorted us 3.50 when she brought our change back. We will never go back...
