So first & foremost I think the owner is an amazing & inspiring woman! Food is good, very juicy & not dry by any means! In fact, I took a bite & almost choked because the juices of the Beria! The corn tortillas that your tacos come in are between a Soft taco & a Hard shell Taco, still good & purely a description & not a critique. I honestly liked the food, it’s great & would keep me coming back if it wasn’t for the prices. I’m guessing/thinking that the prices are Old Town prices & not Chula Vista prices… $5.00 for a taco, $5.50 for it to have cheese & $7 for very little bone marrow and small/ medium drink at $6.00. I may have come at a slow time, cause I was basically the only one there at the time, granted 2 people had just left when I came in. Everything is so automated as well these days… ordered everything off of a touchscreen kiosk. The owner owns the place next door as well, you can get coffee & Birria burritos. I’ve been there twice, but again the cost is a bit much. You get a small coffee & a skinny burrito (size you’d make at home, not as big as regular burritos from a taco shop). Flavor wise, I kind of like the taste of the Birria Burritos more than the Birria Tacos, but that’s more of a personal preference thing, more than anything else. Again… purely my own opinion, experience & preferences… go visit both places, find out for yourself & decide on your own! Love both Mujeres Divina & Tuétano flavor wise, just not a fan of the prices, especially in the current financial market...
Read moreTuétano Taquería has recently opened her doors in Chula Vista, offering excellent beef birria tacos, quesa tacos, and flour birria quesdillas
I had a pair of quesa tacos with homemade corn tortillas at $5.75 plus tax each. First of all, the homemade, made to order, and corn tortillas were terrific. They soft and offer very good flavor. The beef birria in the tacos was delicious. It was very tender and juicy. The consommé in the birria was outstanding and not overly seasoned: just good traditional flavors. The tacos also came with freshly chopped cilantro and white onions.
They are just getting under way. They offer inside and outside seating. On the menu, you can also get frijoles de la olla, birria tortas, and bone marrow. Oh yes, they make natural aguas, such as lemon cucumber mint, jamaica, horchata coconut, de olla horchata with coffee.
The service was very friendly. I like forward to returning to try...
Read moreAlright I'm not going to lie and say I never heard all the great reviews about this place. I didn't have the chance of going to their previous location so once this one opened I just had to try it out. We got some birria tacos with handmade tortillas, a quesabirria also with the handmade tortillas. The husband was brave enough to try the tuétano and let me tell you guys everything was full of flavor. Oh and we got broth too. This is not your typical birria place, this one has a more home like taste to it, it is a bit pricier than others but you definitely get quality, generous portions and very flavorful food. I didn't try their drinks as we stopped by next door at Mujer Divina for our favorites. However, I would definitely come back and try their atole and all the very unique and original drinks they offer. This is a must try place for sure. Very unique, very homemade,...
