Starbucks is my usual go-to for coffee, so I had high hopes for Deeper Roots. Walking in, you are greeted with the delicious smell of coffee and baked croissants. The restaurant was very neat and had a simple and clean, but also modern touch (which I love). So aesthetic-wise, they nailed it! I ordered their honey bear latte. I’m not sure if it was a seasonal menu item or not, but it was incredible! I am quite picky with my coffee, and sipping this coffee gave my taste buds a whole party! It was not too sweet, nor bitter, and had gorgeous foam art on top. I also ordered a ham and cheese croissant. I wanted something simple for breakfast, and let me just say this is the best croissant I have ever bit into. It was buttery, with crispy flaky layers of delicious pastry goodness topped with poppy seeds. There was even some of that seedy mustard in the sandwich; just enough so that you could get that tasty mustard flavor, but not too much that it overpowers the rest of the ingredients (and I’m not even a mustard person!). The entire croissant was just a perfect balance of all of the right taste elements. I’m pretty sure the cheese was swiss, but either way it was very yummy paired with the ham. If I lived closer, this would be my new favorite coffee shop! The atmosphere is amazing, taste is impeccable, and prices were very reasonable as well, plus the staff were very kind and helpful! So if you took the time to read this review; or even scrolled down this far, I would definitely recommend Deep Roots coffee! I hope you all find this place as...
Read moreThe coffee is excellent, but the service is terrible. As I approached the counter to order, the young lady focused on restocking pastries ignored me. Another girl in the back waited behind a colleague until two other customers arrived. Only then did she come forward to offer help. I am of African descent, while they were Caucasian. Politely, I inquired if it was the norm to ignore me until customers of another race arrived. The employee who took my order seemed displeased with my questions. On my two subsequent visits to the establishment, after placing my order, the same girl placed my coffee and pastry in the middle by the coffee machines instead of bringing them to the front as they usually do for me. They neglected to inform me that my order was ready and just left it there. Another staff member had to inform me that my coffee was ready. While the place itself is nice, the employees are impolite and unprofessional. I will not be returning. I initially thought it was just an off day, but experiencing this two more times is not acceptable. If you dislike your job or see color as a way to treat others diffrent you should consider seeking...
Read moreVisiting Cincinnati this weekend and I wanted to make sure to stop by a local coffee shop. This one was not only a short walk away from my hotel, but was such a great find!
I got the Honey Bear Latte and it was a perfect amount of caffeine and flavor. Not overpowering or underwhelming, but just a truly great cup of coffee. I also got a spinach and feta danish for breakfast and it was incredibly flaky, flavored and fabulous. YUM!
It slipped my mind to ask the woman who was working there (she’s in my photo) what her name was, but she was WONDERFUL. She was so sweet and laughed with my friend and me as we ordered and she made our orders. I’d love to give her a shoutout for perfect service, if anyone knows who she is or can let her know she...
