Jake’s Main Street Music is a place I return to over and over again. As the former owner of a famous East Village Music store I’m familiar with the vicissitudes of owning and running a small music store. Most customers are mellow and easy too work with but any business owner will tell you there are always going to be people who are determined to be unhappy about something (generally really nothing). Jake and Dave’s calm, welcoming way of greeting and dealing with customers equally, regardless of whether they are seasoned pros or first time buyers is beyond admirable. Played a vintage 20s Gibson acoustic guitar and talked to one really nice employee about my experience with these guitars. Whoever the crotchety old man is who works here ruined the experience by coming over and essentially demanded the guitar be put back on the wall if I wasn't buying it right then and there. Don't bother trying a guitar unless you're going to buy it immediately or they'll run you out of the store. Incredibly...
