I suspect all reviews have a lot of subjectivity in them, I admit mine do and I'll explain my mindset before I get to the review. I had planned a romantic getaway for my wife's birthday and wanting to make it special, I booked our stay at one the prestige resorts on the Seneca Lake waterfront. From the start it was a disappointing experience. While there were many reasons for the disappointment, the food service was very poor. On checkout day, we cancelled our breakfast reservation and searched Google for an alternate, and while I generally look for a 4.5 review score or higher, the F2T's breakfast menu sold me. I wasn't looking at five "elevated" breakfast offerings, I was looking at a full page of the All-American basics for breakfast, and at reasonable prices.
When we arrived we had a window seat with a wonderful view of Lake Seneca. The host that seated us was upbeat and friendly and I started to get a good vibe about the place. Comfortable, functional decor, a good menu, a great view, and service with a smile.
Our waitress, Jackie showed up, and and she was just what we needed. She was competent, perfectly attendendent (not hovering and not invisible), and as more customers arrived, I realized she was the only waitstaff on duty, and she didn't miss a beat. Everyone in that restaurant got the same service. I have to emphasize, the food would have to have been inedible for us to walk out of there without big smiles on our faces.
We had eggs, sunny side and over easy, breakfast potatoes, bacon, regular and Canadian, and a half-stack of buttermilk pancakes, coffee, and I had an orange juice. All perfectly cooked or prepared. I realize you may be saying to yourself, but that's all easy stuff to make, and I agree. However, it's exactly what we needed after the prior two days. This is my thank you for the vibe and the competence, and pricing that's hard to find these days.
The next time we visit Lake Seneca we'll probably try the attached hotel. It's in a great location, with what looks like a fun lakefront walking path, and the prices look reasonable. I'm not going to review the hotel we stayed at. I don't like to write negative reviews. There's so much going on that I'm not aware of in such a complex property I'm in no position to harshly judge the people who work there. I absolutely love to write reviews about places that make me...
Read moreNow called The Pier House. Different menu now F2T Kitchen. When it was F2T Kitchen, it had nice burger and dessert. The place has an amazing view of the lake. I craved a burger so suggested this place for a date night with my wife because she like the view. When we sat down at a table and saw the menu, I noticed that the it had different dishes from what I remember and no burgers! I was disappointed so we got up to leave. As we were heading out, I mentioned the lack of burgers to the waitress. She then told me there is a burger not on menu so they can do one. We sat back down and made the orders. Oh boy, we should have left. The foods were terrible perhaps fit for my pet dog. The burger especially was the most disgusting $17 burger that was so bad I mentioned to my wife I get a better satisfaction from a Whopper or even a Quarter Pounder. It seemed like they fed me a Dollar Store bought frozen patty. That disgusting. Dry, overcooked (I ordered medium rare, which may not be possible if it not homemade fresh patty), chewy and had that distinct frozen patty taste and texture. The waitress came back to do a customary check in and I felt like unloading my disappointment but I didn’t want to ruin the date night for my wife and just politely mentioned to her the patty is dry and overcooked. She made a surprised face and told me she would speak to the kitchen but when she came back for the check no mention if the burger was ever made. I...
Read moreVery Rude Host, Slow Service, strange and bland food. Nowhere near worth the price. The whole experience was disappointing.
Oddly, the chairs are obnoxiously loud and gave me anxiety every time someone sat down or stood up. It was like eating in a war zone.
The restaurant was empty and only 2 tables sat outside. The host greeted us and walked into the back for 10 minutes leaving my older in-laws standing uncomfortably the whole time. When she returned she was dismissive, “yeah yeah, we can seat 4 outside.”
Following the host outside, she pointed out 2 tables in the direct sun. We asked for a shadier spot and the host lectured us about server sections. We specifically asked for one of the empty tables in the shade and she repeated her lecture, directing us to the 2 full sun tables.
Each group that came in after us had the same experience, the host lectured guests 4 more times before we finished eating.
She chased away an older couple saying that ordering apps only had to happen at the bar and they couldn’t sit at any of the tables in the shade. The couple left.
The service was very slow and forgetful. The food options were complex, but somehow came out bland. The scallops meal had only 4 scallops.
The vibe was that the customers were disrupting the staff by being there. I didn’t feel welcome or accommodated. It’s frankly disappointing for the premium price, I would expect premium service...
