We went on a Friday night, which is karaoke night. We know what comes with that, so no complaints for the music … other than the volume.
We couldn’t hear ourselves think, let alone have a conversation. It was unnecessarily loud.
The restaurant was relatively full, but not packed. The hostess was polite and professional. She asked if we minded if we were sat at the end of a large table - with the other end being occupied by a mother and son. With all of the open tables, we were confused, but we went with it.
Our server took our drink and food orders at the same time. The wait for the food was not long at all.
I ordered a side of rice with my meal. The server didn’t bring it. After a few minutes, I did remind her that I ordered rice. She apologized and said it would be right out.
Twenty minutes and half of my meal later, our server walked past us and apologized - again - that she’d forgotten my rice. I told her I was already getting full, so please just cancel the rice order.
Not that I was looking for a freebie, but I think the right thing to do would have been to bring the rice and remove it from the check. No biggie.
We finished our meals and waited … and waited … and waited … finally our server “remembered” us again. Got us a to go box. Then we waited … and waited … and waited …. For our server to “re-remember” that we were there and we finally got our check.
The food was good. If you want authentic, you’re better off driving a few miles south to Mi Rancho - where the service, food and atmosphere are exponentially better.
The atmosphere was far too loud. By the time we were finally able to leave, our ears were ringing.
The service was pretty horrible.
In fairness, throughout the extra 30-40 minutes we were forced to stay, we did witness what seemed to be very good service from another server (who was serving the mother and son at the same table).
I wish them well and hope they make the necessary improvements, but it’s very unlikely that we...
Read moreA friend and I had lunch at this relatively new spot in Glens Falls. Everything was amazing, from the food to the space and the service as well.
I have visited this place before under previous incarnations of a variety of restaurants. It is spacious with ample seating and high ceilings (located in an early 1900s building, so very reminiscent of that time period). One note - the door to the restaurant is located inside. You go through an external door to the building and then through the restaurant door on your left.
Our waitress was very friendly and patient. She answered all of our questions, gave us time to catch up and look over the menu before ordering, and checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Extra napkins and a side of sour cream I forgot to mention when we put in our orders were both brought out quickly.
Now, and most importantly, the food. So so so good! Chips and salsa are complementary with the meals, which is nice; so many places have stopped doing this. The salsa tasted homemade. I would also probably add on queso next time (I absolutely love a good queso!). My friend ordered the Torta, subbing in jackfruit, so that it was more like a "pulled pork" sandwich. It was good-sized, and she loved it. It is nice to see some new vegetarian options in this area. I had the steak quesadilla; the meat was quality and cooked perfectly so that it was tender, no toughness at all). This was an extremely filling portion and so delicious! Lots of meat and cheese as well as their homemade sauce. I was so full, sadly, that I didn't have a chance to try their churros.
I am already looking for an excuse to go back and try something else. Highly, highly recommend checking this place out...
Read moreReading the reviews saying how this is such a great addition to Glens Falls or that talk about how great the food is confuses me. I’m certain those reviewers haven’t gone to Taco Kings Jalisco because the food there is incredible and the food at Tres Mijas is very meh.
We got the queso which was fine, not great and not terrible. I think Moe’s has better queso. I like their chips and the salsa was also just fine, nothing special at all. I got the taquitos which were not very flavorful. The rice was actually just bad; it was flavorless but also somehow burnt tasting. My husband got the Pambazo. I liked the cheese toasted bun. The filling on the sandwich was quite minimal and tasted fine but not great. I wouldn’t crave it or really ever need to eat it again. We tried both desserts. The Nutella empanadas were interesting because like less than 50% of it had Nutella in it. I joked that what was fun about them was you never knew what you’d get in a bite. I love fried dough and Nutella, and the bonus toasted marshmallow was delicious. I would get that dessert again. The churros were kinda flavorless and not great. I wouldn’t get them again.
Overall this place is like completely fine and I felt like incredibly “white people Mexican food.” It’s much better than Raul’s but that’s easy to say about literally every restaurant in existence. I don’t understand why it’s ever busier than Taco Kings though and I would never choose this place...
