Where is the hospitality!?
We planned to go there around 2 in the afternoon and we called ahead to check if they're open since it was a national holiday. They told us we could order ahead and they'd keep it ready coz they close by 2:30 and we could reach by 2:00pm.
However, when we called them back to order, they rerouted us back to their website to order online and specify its for dine in - when they could've taken 2 minutes to just take the order over the same call.
We got there and as we enter we're told we'll be charged 18% separately for gratuity. And as we are seated, they emphasize that they close by 2:30sharp and we need to eat soon - why was both these things not specified when we called to check if we could dine in?!
And even after all this, the food wasn't ready - we had to ask for dishes to be served, even basic things like raita with biriyani. All this time we had to ask them constantly for service since they weren'taround closeby. And we had to rush through our meal with barely 15-20minutes. But the minute the clock struck 2:30 they were at our side and kept coming back to clear literally each dish as soon as we moved our hand away from it! Where was all this attentiveness when you had to serve our food?!
And they had no problem asking for gratuity for such a terrible dining experience - shame on them! We honestly don't even know if the food was good coz we had to gulp through it.
Readers beware! They clearly don't care about customers and only want to extract money out of them. Sure, they're a business but they're a HOSPITALITY business - where is the...
Read moreThis is hands down the best Indian restaurant in Syracuse. No other restaurant even comes close! I’ve been here 5 times since it’s opening and I will keep going back!
Over my various visits, I’ve tried their Lamb pepper fry, Shahi paneer, butter chicken, goat chettinaad, gobi Manchurian, veg noodles, paneer bhurji, kerala parotta and butter naan. NO ONE does bread like they do! It is BEYOND soft and crispy and flavorful all at the same time. The South Indian kick to each curry is the most unique part about their food!
The only reason I scored 4 stars is due to food portion in a couple meals. The Shahi paneer (ordered twice) and goat chettinaad did not have enough pieces of paneer/meat in the curries. It was a bit disappointing because the curries themselves were SO flavorful and it would’ve been nice to be able to finish the meal with appropriate amounts of paneer/meat instead of having to leave the “extra” curry behind. Felt a bit...
Read moreSo, we had a mixed experience at this restaurant. The food was okay, but that’s not the main issue. Here are a few things that went wrong during our visits.
We went twice, and on the second trip, we were running late. When we called, they suggested we order online and it would be ready for dine-in. They were cool about seating us and letting us eat, but that was about it.
The restaurant was supposed to close at 2:30 pm, and we arrived by 1:50 pm. As soon as we walked in, the wait staff told us they’d close at 2:30 pm sharp. No exceptions! If we had known this, we would’ve found another place to grab lunch.
Another thing that bugged me was the default gratuity. They charge 18% for parties of four or more. I think that’s a bit steep. They told us we had to pay for it even though we ordered online. Again, they didn’t mention it to us.
Overall, the food was pretty good, but I don’t think this place knows how to...
