The Penny Pub — Restaurant in City of Syracuse

I’d like to start by noting that I do have a lot of respect for the owners of this Bar, as together they’ve all put a lot of time and energy into making armory square a good place. I also used to love The Penny Pub as the drinks were inexpensive, and they have pool. Unfortunately, the last several times I have been, there has been constant altercations. The current bar manager, albeit a decent bar tender, does not know how to run this establishment.

The first altercation occurred in early fall of this year, instead of finding a way to calm the situation down, I personally witnessed her take a bottle and try to hit the patron she was arguing with. This led to more fighting and her getting injured as well, sadly. After that was over, I witnessed two people arguing at the bar on an unrelated issue. One person was sitting there minding his own business getting constantly harassed by another, much younger patron. Instead of kicking out the girl harassing everybody, it appeared as if she sent home the person minding his own business because the girl was spending more money. Finally last weekend, I was there for another massive brawl. I honestly have no idea where this one came from. But once again she refused to handle the situation and de-escalate it at all. This led to some massive fight, which I barely escaped.

All of these are isolated events on top of other inappropriate behavior I see her engage in. It really upsets me because I know the bar owners have the best intentions for their locations, and they have many capable bar managers at their disposal. I’m not sure why the penny pub managed to go downhill so fast in only 7 months, so my only conclusion would have to be that the day to day management is causing...

Stopped in here for "one or two" with a colleague. Ended up barely remembering the night and had a total blast. Grew crew working the bar and super friendly guests. I checked my pockets and bank account the next morning and realized on my $100 tab on which I attempted to tip, I took the receipt that denoted my tip!! I feel absolutely terrible and this place deserves every bit of high praise it gets. To the bartender who spun the wheel and crafted 9 shots roughly 10 separate times you were fantastic and I regret every bit of taking the receipt in which should've been...
