Welcome to the new home of Callaloo Cafe! This corner nook in Cedar-Lee is inviting and bright, serving unpretentious Trinidadian comfort food with flair.

I got the roti with curried chicken and it was fabulous. The chicken was fall off the bone tender, the spices were bold but balanced, and the owner/cook/server triple threat excitedly talked me through the flavor profiles when I asked. There's also a selection of interesting soft drinks to explore. (For your reference; Kola Champagne is a creme soda twin. Now I know!)

Sometimes tastey global spots bring the flavor while neglecting the space, but Callaloo was spotless inside and out. The owner obviously puts a lot of care into his Cafe.

This placed smelled truly amazing and I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. Give it a try and you might find a new favorite...

My daughter and I frequent restaurants in the area often, and we were thrilled to stumble upon this absolute jewel! The food was nothing short of superb. We sampled the curry goat and brown stew chicken, both were an explosion of flavor. The spices were perfectly balanced, with just the right hint of sweetness and heat.

We ultimately ordered the brown stew chicken with rice, cabbage, and callaloo, and we couldn’t resist adding a side of mac and cheese, which had its own unique and delicious flavor. Every bite was well-prepared and absolutely delicious.

What made the experience even better was the outstanding customer service. Warm, welcoming, and attentive from start to finish.

Such a pleasant surprise! You’ve definitely gained a new...

I discovered by accident this gem in Cleveland Heights, the owner is kind and welcoming, and the quaint, unassuming decor is bright and cheery! I ordered the curry chicken, rice and peas and cabbage and the owner threw in a spoon of mac-n-cheese just because I wanted to taste it. What I ordered was delicious! The curry chicken had just the right amount of spice heat, the rice to peas balance was dead on, and the cabbage wasn't some boring steamed leaf, it was season and contained peppers and onions (chefs kiss). The mac n cheese was a little too sweet for my palate so I won't order that in the future. All and all I will definitely be a regular at this TRINIDADIAN Caribbean restaurant. By the way they are open until 1AM most...

Permanently closed 1/29/20. This place featured island style food from Trinidad. The decor was artsy, with a beautiful tropic wall mural and table top collages. The super friendly, irie owner and employees really made you feel alright. We all ordered a Rum Romance drink, made with high proof rum to get you in the mood. I highly recommend going there just for this drink if anything! Many more of these drinks followed. The soundtrack was Soca, Dancehall, reggae. The jerk fish tacos were amazing. Well balanced heat and refreshing toppings. The jerk chicken burrito was tasty and the loaded nachos were yummy.

So glad Mama Joyce’s was closed or we would have never found this Caribbean jewel! The owner is FULL of personality and super engaging! The restaurant is clean and tastefully decorated! The service was super and the staff were knowledgeable of the Trinidadian food and spice levels! My husband is Haitian so I can confidently say, this food is the real deal! The only draw back is the price of the drinks. We had the cost, callaloo, rice, cabbage, Mac, potatoes with chick peas, pork ribs, wings and roti skins. All were phenomenal!

Went with a friend who has a Trinidadian friend. The menu seemed limited, but the options, below ("Which dishes do you recommend?"), suggests I didn't understand it. Tofu & goat are two of the offered proteins. $4 for their bottled/tropical drinks is, IMO, gouging. I got the chicken quesadilla, not at all greasy but not sure I liked the pineapple ingredient. Kelvin (owner, I think) was super friendly & animated - he was making Jerk Chicken on a grill outside.
