Delicious rich authentic Chinese food at bargain basement prices! Clevelanders are so fortunate to have a culinary treasure in its diverse Asia town but the real gem is Richie Chan's in Cleveland Heights. We have eaten Chinese cuisine all over the world & my girlfriend, a CIA grad from New Hyde Park, has been eating here for the past 15 years since she moved back home to Cleveland & this is her favorite place. A single couple run the restaurant with the wife doing prep work, taking phone orders & making change while her husband does all the cooking... to order. This time we got Won ton soup, subgum Cantonese vegetables, yang chow fried rice & steamed dumplings. It was all tasty & filling (we had seconds) & they are so generous with their portions we have enough for dinner again tonight! They also include at no charge fortune cookies & sweet navel oranges. They offer enough variety to satisfy the entire range of taste buds. For the superb quality & bounteous quantity of food, you will never be disappointed at Richie Chan's. Qing man yong!
PS: I just added an updated menu from Richie Chan's because the one we ordered from as well as others we found posted online were about 5 years old. This is the most current with accurate prices (which have not risen much since the last posting). I also added a photo of our meal. The portions are so generous we got a total of 6 meals out of our order for an average of under $4 per...
Read moreMy girlfriend & I opted to dine via take out from Richie Chan's. She has been eating here since she returned to Cleveland two decades ago & raves about it all the time. We decided to order take out for Valentine's Day & it was fast service with generous & delicious portions. They only take cash but it's very inexpensive for the quality & quantity of food you receive. We got wonton soup, shrimp with vegetables & steamed dumplings & it was enough for two meals each for both of us! We also got organic navel oranges, fortune cookies & almond cookies as a gift (I think this may have been part of the Valentine's Day) The food was so good, we ate it before we could take photos but my girlfriend's fortune cookie says it all...wonderful food for a romantic evening. We will continue to return here. Richie Chan is the main cook & his wife, Wai, helps with food prep & takes all the orders & transactions. They are so nice & friendly it feels like your favorite aunt & uncle just invited you over for dinner. Having lived in PRC, I can attest to the genuine taste of their Cantonese, Hunanese, Mongolian & Mandarin dishes. It is also a true bargain for what you...
Read moreThis place is so great! I went tonight after an exhausting day, and was so excited with what I found. It seems the employees are just an older couple. It is cash only, which I knew ahead of time thanks to Google. I ordered Pork and Chinese Mushroom. The space is definitely more accommodating for carry out, but there was a small group of Chinese women dining in the restaurant who appeared to be having an incredible feast of authentic dishes. I could see the man cooking food fresh by himself in the back, and each plate the woman brought out made me more and more excited for my own food.
A few minutes later, she brought me my bag and I was on my way. When I got home, I found that they had also given me a couple of slices of watermelon with my food. It was such a nice touch. The food was amazing, and the price is right. It is clear that this restaurant leans more toward the authentic than to American fusion pallets. It won’t make everyone happy, but it sure made me happy! I will...
