The food was terrible. I went here for mother's day since they have gf and vegan options on the menu, and my mother in law wanted to go there. But I'll probably never go back. I wish I'd taken pictures of our food, but I didn't think of it so I'll just describe it.
Both soups our table tried (white bean & kale, and tomato bisque) were awfully salty. I ordered the white bean caprese dish. It was about 15 canned cannelini beans covered in slightly wilted spinach, with a little marinara sauce and a bunch of red pepper flakes on top. It was very little food. Also, too salty and quite flavorless aside from the tomato and spiciness of the red pepper flakes.
My partner ordered the (vegan) cauliflower Bolognese. It was a bowl of undercooked noodles in salty marinara sauce. surprisingly, I don't think the noodles were boiled in salt water, since they were super bland. And the noodle texture was totally off. There were a few pieces of cremini mushrooms throughout the dish (maybe 5-8), and about 10 tiny crumbs of the "nooch" Parmesan mentioned in the menu. No sight of cauliflower.
Another person in the party ordered the vegan Caesar salad with falafel added on for $6. The salad was just a bowl of chopped romaine (like you can get pre-chopped in a bag at the grocery store). There was Caeser dressing on the side, but no chickpeas and no vegan Parmesan. No other vegetables either, just lettuce. The falafel that came on top was pale green all the way through like it hadn't been cooked. It tasted like raw box falafel mix, definitely not anything made in-house or fresh. I'm wondering if the kitchen staff just didn't know it needed to be fried?
My mother-in-law and father-in-law didn't complain too much about their food. I don't know if that's because they liked their food better than the rest of us or if it's because they were being polite. They both got meat dishes, so I didn't personally try what they had. The fries were okay aside from being slightly too salty lol.
Nobody talked to any of the staff about our complaints since things with the family were tense and nobody wanted to rock the boat. So we didn't give anyone a chance to make things right.
Nevertheless, I wouldn't eat the food here even if it was cheap, but this place is pricey so the food is especially not worth the exorbitant cost. I don't know if they were having an off day in the kitchen or what, but I've seen similar complaints about their food in recent reviews and I highly do not recommend this place.
As a side note, they don't have any vegan desserts. And the environment in the restaurant is loud and over-stimulating. There were tvs playing, and hard surfaces everywhere so all of the noise was just echoing around in there and it was difficult to have a conversation. (We were seated at a round...
Read moreLet me start by saying this place has amazing ambience, its super clean, and has a lot of potential. We showed up with reservations for a party of 8, the table was ready, and we were seated fairly quickly. The staff at the front, a older taller gentleman & a younger woman with braids, was not the most pleasant greeters but they weren't super rude either. We sat and waited for our party and it took about 20 minutes for a server to come up. Upon being greeted she took our drink orders, when she came back she forgot a couple of them. (Bloody marys and lattes) She blamed the coffee drinks on the espresso machine, which happens. We have all been servers years ago so we have a lot of patience but her forgetting the drinks or the drinks taking over 30 minutes to get to us each time became a habit the whole 2.5 hours we were there. It took her almost 45 minutes and us waving her down to be able to put in a food order. From there the food ticket ran over a hour and 20 minutes. Like i said we were all servers so were understanding, but multiple tables got sat, ate, and left prior to us getting food. Not just 1 or 2 but at least 4! The server just kept saying "I know it sucks"... We received no communication for 2 hours, no one came over to talk to us to apologize until the end. As soon as we received our food we asked for the bill because we were all ready to go home after being there over 2 hours waiting on food and drinks. At this point a manger finally came over and told us she had a sad server and it was the kitchens fault. We told her it was not about that, it was the fact we never had any communication until the end. She kept stating what could she do for us she already had the chef come over. Which we were confused because 1 gentleman came from the kitchen and handed us ranch and asked how the food was, which was mediocre tasting but no issues. She told us she wanted to give us all something. We waited 20 minutes and she just never came back. It seems like this place is just ran by a bunch of young people with not much direction. It has potential, the food is subpar, but the customer service and urgency lacks. I would not...
Read moreThis was the most horrifying dining experience of my life.
My friend and I were staying at the hotel next door, and after checking out the next day, we decided to have a meal at Betts. A hostess led us to a table for two. Shortly after, a male server came by, introduced himself, and poured us some water. He filled my glass first, and when pouring for my friend, she politely asked if it was possible to have some hot water instead — since we were traveling and had sensitive stomachs. He hesitated a little but said yes, then asked if I’d also like some. I thought for a moment and said yes.
A few minutes later, he returned with two visibly dirty cups with obvious coffee stains, and my friend's cup even had a lipstick mark on the rim. Both were filled with hot water. We were too shocked to speak.
Even worse, after that, he completely ignored us for about 15 minutes, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy and no new guests had arrived. Eventually, another waitress came to take our order and kindly replaced the cups. But in the background, we could clearly see the staff, the male server, laughing as if they found it all amusing. I was furious, but I didn’t say anything. I simply left no tip and wrote the reason on the bill.
And then — as we stood up to leave, the male server came directly toward us, stared at me without saying a word, with zero sign of apology or remorse. I was absolutely outraged.
Later, after finishing some errands, we returned to the hotel and reported the incident to the front desk manager. He took it seriously and kindly contacted the restaurant manager for us. The restaurant manager came to speak with me and tried to explain it away as a “mistake”, but I pointed out how anyone could clearly tell from the dirty cups and the server’s behavior that this was done intentionally. The manager then offered me a full refund and apologized.
But even during this conversation, the male server was still walking around the restaurant, never once offering an apology or even acknowledging the situation.
It was a very disrespectful and humiliating experience. Worst in my life ever. I will never recommend this restaurant...
