In the ancient of Pantheon of Burger places that people argue about online only Five Guys is around me. So, when I realized that a venue we were going to was right near this location I knew I needed to check it out.
Being that I'm not from the area, I tried to grab a few different things from the menu to try. I got the Double Shack Burger, the Smoke Stack Burger, the Korean BBQ burger, the Spicy Korean Chicken Sandwich, and the fries with a Dr. Pepper. My girlfriend got the Shrooms with fries.
So, was it the transcendent experience that makes it in competition with the likes of In-and-Out? I felt incredibly whelmed. Was it the best I've ever had? No. Was it the worst? No. It exists, and that's fine. I'll just be honest about what I learned from trying it. Firstly double is the way to go, across the 3 Burgers I had the only time I had a satisfying burger taste that wasn't over powered by the toppings was with the double. The Korean BBQ Burger was fine, but all you really taste is the Korean BBQ sauce, so I guess it would depend on how you felt about the sauce as to wether you would like it or not. The smoke stack I thought was better but mainly because of the sauce and diced peppers, only to figure out that the same sauce is used on the Shack Burger which I thought the sauce was flavorless on, so I'm not sure what was up with that. But, everything was acceptable, but either bland or being over powered by one ingredient. The fries are crinkle cut, so their just that nothing fancy, not bad though. The girlfriends shroom burger was disappointing to her, she said all she tasted was cheese like the mushroom didn't exist. The star of the show surprisingly was the Spicy Korean Chicken Sandwich, absolutely delicious, weird that the chicken sandwich was best thing at the burger place.
As far as the location/ experience goes. It's centrally located close to Progressive Field, Jack's Casino and the House of Blues. When you go in there's a cashier there, pointing for you to use the kiosks and basically just helping people figure out the kiosks. The bathrooms are Gender neutral and require a numerical combination to access, so if that sort of thing appeals to you/ or makes you upset well now you know. There's a couple games set up in the back corner, which was interesting but actually were kinda loud when played. Place gets a lot of traffic, so it was pretty consistently busy while we were there. Once you order you take a number, find a spot and eventually someone brings out your food. Overall was I blown away? No, not sure what gave it away. I definitely prefer Five Guys still, but to...
Read moreTried coming here at 10:03PM on Wednesday night 10/30/24, after the Cav’s & Lakers game. Tried placing and online order around 9:45PM and the app kept giving us weird errors. We ended up pulling up to the restaurant at 10:03PM and they decided to lock the doors and put up no signage, would look at you and completely ignore you. They then shut off the mobile ordering. I understand it’s towards the end of night and probably a lot of orders with the foot traffic. However, we tried again the next day, 10/31/25 and ordered around 9PM (they close at 10:30PM) and they already shut the milkshake machines down. We did a mobile order as we were staying in a nearby Airbnb and requested ketchup packets and they didn’t put any, and the one burger we got was supposed to have the new black truffle sauce and didn’t put that either. The main lady, older lady with long-ish hair was extremely sassy and clearly had an attitude. When I went in to pick up the order it seemed as though she was going to attempt to deny service since the time of night but I told her I had a mobile order. I will say, the food was good, normal shake shack. The works and randomly shutting stuff down, not notating anything and then having attitude was super weird. Wouldn’t...
Read moreThis was my first visit at a Shake Shack. I had a mediocre experience.
I ordered a split top hotdog, crinkle fries, and cookies and cream milkshake. The hotdog and shake reminded me a bit of Five Guys.
The hot dog was decent. The shake was really tasty. The fries were lukewarm. I suspect they were prepared too early. Despite it being empty on a Monday around 9:00pm, it took longer than expected for the food.
Mostly clean. Loud music. Even louder staff. I recorded a brief video (no people are in it) to give an idea of how loud the environment is.
I dined in and selected that option on the order tablet. The instructions stated to take a table number card, enter it on the tablet, put the number out, then the food would be brought to the table. This is not the case.
Your name gets shouted a few times in a row, then you’re expected to pick up the food from the counter yourself. That’s not a problem, but make the process clear. The text confirmation also says the food will be brought out to you (photo attached). This was disappointing.
Based on the price compared to the portion size and taste, I will not...
