The wind howled through the empty streets, biting through my coat as snowflakes swirled in chaotic flurries. Each step crunched beneath my boots, the thick snow dragging at my feet. It was bitterly cold, the kind that seeped into your bones, but I wasn’t turning back. I needed warmth, and more than that—I needed books.
Index wasn’t far, just a few blocks, but in this weather, it felt like a journey through the Arctic. My breath came in visible puffs as I trudged forward, my fingers numb even inside my gloves.
Finally, the soft glow of the café’s sign cut through the white haze. Pushing through the door, I was met with the rich aroma of coffee and the hum of quiet conversation. The warmth wrapped around me instantly. Shaking off the cold, I ordered a cup of coffee and perused the current selection of books.
Outside, the storm raged on. But inside, I flipped through the pages of Barak Obama's, "A Promised Land", while listening to the barista Zoe talk to the other customers.
Index books is a great place and I highly...
Read moreWhat an awesome place! Probably the best coffee I’ve ever had, and that is saying something! The barista was really friendly and knows her stuff. They use locally made very interesting syrups which are delicious. All of their specialty lattes are very unique and you should try them. We tried the sweet rice, vanilla latte, orange, black, sesame, latte, and honey lavender latte. All with regular milk and all iced. The first two were our favorites. We also liked the honey lavender, which we have had before, but it was our least favorite, still delicious, however. The bookstore was really cool too. I’m not sure where they get their books, they are new, but not new releases from what I can tell. If you buy one, it’s half off. If you buy two, they are each 60% off. If you buy three or more, they are all 70% off apiece. We got five new books for about 27 bucks. Thank you very much. We will be back next year when we are...
Read moreThis is by far our favorite coffee shop in Ohio City. The baristas are very well trained and give great attention to detail. The young woman who makes their syrups is also their baker, and she is very talented. Too many times we go to shops and their syrups taste nothing like what is advertised, not the case here. I also love the fact that the baristas understand that a coffee drink should not be SO syrupy that it overwhelms the actual coffee. The balance is spot on. The service is always friendly and the book store aspect makes it such a cool spot to hang out for a bit. We have met some very interesting people here. Shout out to Zoey, our...
