I remember this restaurant from years ago, and I'm fairly certain that it used to be its own standalone location near campus. Now located inside of the student center, it's the fanciest cafeteria food I've ever eaten. This is not a compliment. First off, the server was delightful. My poor dining experience was not at all a reflection of her. The food at this place was absolutely dreadful. I was immediately suspicious when I walked in and noticed that everyone was eating salads and drinking water. Healthy, perhaps. A safe choice, most definitely. I ordered the special which were fish tacos. The tortillas were greasy, the fish used was frozen and void of any type of seasoning. News flash Michelson and Morley, a little salt and pepper goes a long way. The topping/salsa was entirely too sweet, and the whole dish tasted like the refrigerator that it came from. If there is no salt and pepper in the kitchen, I'm sure there's no baking soda in the fridge to absorb foul odors which inevitably seep into the food. On top of all of this, the worst offense was the barely fresh microgreens on the side of the plate. The salad was topped with pickled onions, which I'm sure came from a jar, and nothing else. There was no dressing, no lemon juice or olive oil atop the salad. When the server finally came back to check on us, and I expressed my discontent with the meal, she explained that the salad on the side was for "decoration." If it's not meant to be eaten it doesn't belong on the plate. I didn't send back my meal, rather I chose to let them throw away the slop that was supposed to be my lunch. A word to the manager: the food service on this campus is probably provided by Aramark. The folks who opt to pay a bit more for their lunch shoud be awarded with a tastier...
Read moreLet's see...not really sure what happened, never experience something like this before. Made a reservation one month in advance for 1 hour and fifteen minutes prior to a 7PM performance. As soon as we were seated the waitress said "if you want any food get your order in now"....ok sure, no problem. We ordered accordingly; never saw the waitress again, sat there with thumbs twirling for 40 minutes: no one checked our water, or bread, nothing; not even our salad or appetizer off the specials menu arrived. NOTHING. When we asked for our check to pay for I guess water, bread, and tax; that was even a problem; had to leave cash on the table, never received a check. The manager was rude when we brought it to her attention, no apology. Our entertainment for forty minutes other than sipping on water was seeing and hearing the table to the right of us return their salad which had the wrong protein, the table to the left of us return their risotto with shrimp because apparently it was inedible, and the table in front of us complain about their packaging for their leftovers. Seems this place is snobbery at its lowest, not even pleasant snobbery, but seriously rude and debasing snobbery. Thank you, truly for not serving us; it was our pleasure. Btw, it's always awesome sitting through a 2.5 hour performance having not eaten anything. Jerks.
For readers: there was literally a total of 20 people in the restaurant. Apparently for this place,...
Read moreBeen here a couple of times and our bad for having gone more than once. Even though they're now only open for dinner when nearby Severance Hall has a performance, and even though we like apparently everyone else there during a recent visit had a reservation (in our case for 5:00, which is when they open), the place is a hot mess. Despite having a very limited menu, and our only ordering two cold salads, it was over an hour after we arrived before food showed up. We'd been helped by the waitress before and know that she is a hard working college student who is not to blame, but the so-called management is worse than useless and one of our two dishes even arrived lacking the title ingredient! Severance Hall closed its own restaurant with COVID, and there are very few places in the area, but just about any take-out spot on nearby Euclid Ave. can do...
