Cool Hand Luke's Steakhouse — Restaurant in Clovis

Very disappointed. Was at restaurant few weeks back and had great customer service and my kids really enjoyed their food as I did as well. I decided to return and this time was met by a waitress named "Robin". Robin seamed bothered by something immediately when she began taking my order. She was short and direct when I was asking questions regarding the kids meals. I ordered two kids meals and asked her if I could get the "lunch" portion and price for the 8 oz. steak. I had arrived at around 5:30pm, 2 1/2 hours after lunch had been stopped. Robin never told me she could not and took my order. I told her again during my order that I wanted the 8oz. steak for the lunch price and asked if that was ok. She replied, "yes we have an 8 oz. steak with one side." After 15 min, I receive my order and immediately knew that the steak that was placed in front of me was not the "lunch" portion I had requested minutes earlier. I told Robin that I my dinner did not appear presented the same as in my prior visit. I told her that I had ordered the "lunch" steak plate and did not want to start eating my dinner until I could get confirmation from her. Robin then told me that staff had been getting into trouble and she could not honor the dinner steak place at the lunch price. This was not what she said to me when I placed my order. I eventually spoke with manager "Dennis" who immediately made things worse. He did not ask me when he approached me if there was something he could do he immediately told me that I had to pay the "dinner" price for my meal and that the waitress that I had referred too that had allowed me to have the "lunch" price steak a few weeks earlier had been terminated. The conversation just went down hill after that. Dennis eventually told me he would "come close to the dinner entree price" but would not give me the "lunch" priced steak plate. I told him that Robin had not told me she could not honor the price but that I would let my kids finish their meal and was not interested in paying the dinner price for the steak. He then said "let me see what I can do" and asked that I start eating my meal. I told him that I was no longer hungry. Eventually he brought me a new plate as mine was cold. At the time of the check, Dennis had comped my dinner. Something that I had not asked for but at this point I just wanted to pay for my kids meals and leave. I provided a card to Robin to pay for my meal. Minutes later Robin approached, placed the bill on the counter, and as she walked away said in a very condescending tone "your meal was comped by the restaurant". This whole issue should have been handled completely different. Dennis was no where near professional and chose to scold me and tell me that he had fired the waitress who had served me several weeks before. I did not go to the restaurant for a free meal, I went to have dinner with my kids and pay for my meal and for good service. So very dissapointed with the service I received. If Dennis would have asked me to tell him what was wrong versus he immediately accusing me of doing something shady, this would have ended much different. At the end I got my whole meal comped when all he had to do was tell me that "changes" had been made since my last visit and given me the "lunch" price. He ended having an upset customer and felt that he needed to comp the whole meal to make up for it. ...

We went to Fresno for. Wrestling tournament this weekend and afterwards, as a treat to celebrate their success, we dropped in at Cool Hand Luke’s Steakhouse. I have never visited this restaurant in the past, but my husband has, so we decided to go. When we walked up to the entry there was quite a elaborate setup of country western props. One of which was a wagon and even a jail cell. I found this to be quite special and was excited by the outside decor. When I entered in it was even more decorated. From saloon doors, bar and wagon wheels to bull horns and beer bottles adorning the walls. There was a lot of decor to look at and it was quite entertaining. We did come during lunch hours, so we were seated pretty quickly. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. She brought us a basket of bread with garlic Parmesan butter and a caldron with bean soup dip and both were really good. We ordered an appetizer of onion blossom, my favorite. It was a little smaller than I’ve had in the past, but it still tasted great. As a dipping sauce they had a horseradish dipping sauce. I prefer good old ranch instead, which I did request. They did have a very large drink menu, which was nice, as there was a bunch to choose from. I ordered a Malibu drink and it was really good with an orange peel and a cherry. For the main course, I ordered the chicken friend steak, which I only ate a little of, since we had to wait quite a while to get our entrees my stomach decided it was full. The kids had the tri-tip sand which with fries and my husband ordered the ribs. He did say it was a little dry, but not to bad. All and all, I would say it was a fun dinning experience and I would visit this establishment next time I am in Fresno....

I am so glad I got to write a review on this. So I look this place up on Yelp and it said there was zero minutes wait time. So I went to check it out. First thing there was about 5 other parties waiting to be seated. Funny because the app still said there was no wait time. The hostess said there was a wait, but no wait in the bar. So we went into the bar and found a 2 seater, and I simply asked a waitress walking by if she could clear it as there was crumbs and spilled drink on it. She sighed at my request and never bothered coming back. I am sorry that wiping down a table is too much to for your waitress to handle. So we switched table to a different section of the bar hoping to get a new waitress. We sat and sat and sat... Like 25 minutes inside of this restaurant and no menu, no water, but half the tables are empty, so i am not sure what the holdup was. To end this story the two blonde waitresses inside the bar are either clueless or incompetent. The management either does not care to walk the floor or doesn't care if people are being helped. I can't tell you what the food tastes like because I walked out without even getting a water or menu in 25 minutes. No waitress even spoke to us. I am so disappointed and let down that places like this can stay in business and provide substandard service. I won't be back and I have been sharing my story at least twice a day to warn others to stay away. I get better service at McDonalds than this embarrassment. Don't waste your time. So many other places to eat nearby this place does not deserve your money. NOT a good place to take a date or family... You will...
