Busy place with self check-in and little communication from the employees while sitting in a room full of people waiting. There were seats inside but the longest wait was 25min before the entire wait room got turned over into the dining room.
The cook we had this morning (Sunday) turnedout to be decent despite other reviews.
The Cowboy Skillet was slightly overly salty, but overall tasty and presented well. If you have a sodium issue, just make sure you ask for lightly salted and you should be fine.
The country waffle with bacon and eggs was alright as well - if you want your waffle consistency a certain way, just make sure you ask.
All of the employees were constantly moving from table to table as you can imagine when 15+ people get seated at once what will happen with the orders in the kitchen. Our waitress was peppy and came back within reasonable time 7-10min between drink and menu order.
Perhaps they were short staffed, so they were seating the waitroom in that way, but from reading overall reviews, it is their DMO. They weren't short handed enough to need the extra employee that was dressed up as a dirty grinch meandering around.
BEWARE Holiday Character: There is an employee dressed in a dirty grinch-like costume (in the image similar to the Disney grinch) that goes around saying hi to tables and high-fiving children (not sure if health code at a restaurant and constant contact with little hands while eating is a good idea). Not only that, in the 10-15min between the time our waitress took our order and came back with the food, this character creeped up and down the hall part bent over, walking slowly while facing the tables, like you are being observed. It may be cute the first two times for a table with kids, but by number 5 at a table with two adults that were purposely not engaging, not giving eye contact, it gave the vibe of why are you looking, what do we have that you want, what are you doing continuously getting so close if you are providing no value or service. He was, however, very nice to comply when I said to stop it - and ceased to repeat the process for the duration...
Read moreArrived about 9am with my toddler. Place was almost empty, most patrons were elderly folks and quiet. Quaint decorations. The hostess, also a waitress (not my waitress) was very sweet, even asked about my son.
Menu was flush with Waffle options- fruit, peanut butter, cheese, bacon... including Chick'n Waffles (my favorite) but I was on a mission for Corned Beef Hash. Ordered a Skillet - Corned beef hash, eggs and hash browns. Waitress who served us was argumentative; wanted to play semantics about corned beef hash "patty." Customer facing skills were wanting but I made myself clear.
Food took about 30 mins before food was served... but it was hot indicating the kitchen is slow. Corned beef hash was good. Sourdough toast was good - well buttered and crispy. Eggs were perfect "over medium" but the hash browns were greasier than I liked and left me with an upset stomach later.
Coffee was strong, which I prefer, and the tables were well prepared with condiments. An experience worth having but not sure I would repeat the experience given the proximity to other well recognized breakfast spots with similar pricing in Old Town Clovis.
If you are after a "Waffle House" type experience this is the spot in OTC. I was not disappointed but not impressed, either. Hopefully your experience...
Read moreI moved to Fresno a year and a half ago. This is one of the best experiences I've had at any restaurant..... in Fresno or Clovis.
An old school mom-and-pop feel....also one of the cleanest restaurants I've ever been in my life. The restaurant is big and roomy. They have large skylights that make it bright and cheery.
Just an overall very warm and inviting feel. Then there's the staff.... Could not be more friendly, accommodating, attentive, and an awesome working as a team mentality.
I had two scrambled eggs with hash browns and an English muffin for 8.99. The eggs were cooked just as requested.... soft to medium scramble. The hash browns were crispy on the outside but tender on the inside.... everything was on point!!
This restaurant is a well-oiled machine. The employees show immense pride in their work, right down to the busboys.....to provide the best overall experience for the customers.
Overall 5/5 stars....prices are fairly competitive and they said they have a $6.99 SPECIAL from 6 a.m. till 10.... Two eggs, hash browns, ham and...
