Pete's Teriyaki Clovis — Restaurant in Clovis

We finally got in but... We tried coming to the new Pete's Teriyaki location in Clovis a few times but it was always packed. I should've expected that, since it has just opened. Today, we had the opportunity to sit and enjoy a mean here. They're were no crowds. Only 2 other customers were seated when we arrived. My expectations were high as I remember how good the food was at their original location but they were not met.

As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a very nice young woman who also took our order. I ordered their Chicken Teriyaki plate with light and dark meat. My husband is a lover of fish and chips. When he saw it on the menu he absolutely had to try it. The portions were generous as always. His order of fish and chips was so big that you could barely close the lid to the container. The quality is nothing like the original location. The tempura had an odd texture like if it had been heated in the microwave. The chicken had very little flavor & was unfortunately on the dry side. The rice was...rice. His fish was crispy but lacked flavor. The fries hadn't been salted but they were ok. You might want to stay away from the tartar sauce. Yes, it was that bad. We finally got in... But...

First off this place is ridiculously expensive. You’d think you’d be getting teppanyaki worthy food at the prices they have their food listed at. Nonetheless I wanted to give this place a try and so I ordered a tempura vegetable and shrimp plate that came with white rice.

The dining area is small and it was as hot as a sauna in there. Where I was sitting smelled like human urine.

Once I got my plate I was disappointed to see just how much unflavored batter was surrounded by the veggies and shrimp. Also, I could’ve choked and died because they apparently don’t remove the shrimp skin before frying it in batter? At first I thought maybe they forgot to peel one of the shrimp but no, all the shrimp were unpeeled. I ended up throwing most of the food away and was extremely unsatisfied for what I paid, $18! I should’ve have complained but I was in a hurry. Definitely won’t return and next time I want quick and good Japanese style food I’ll just...

We ordered the beef combo: medium. And these guys gave us a medium rare.. all pink!!!! We called to let them know the meat was horrible done, and Angelina said we will give you the refund. Then 5 min later, they called us back saying to take the meat to them right now 7:20pm ( 12/07/24- foggy and cold- I haven’t eaten). Or to save it n a container!!! To take it to them on MONDAY!!!!!! Aaah!! Two days later!!!! We live in the Bluffs area, and they are making drive to take their food Not cooked properly!!! I hope people read this!! And this is how LOCAL BUSINESS OWNERS kill the vibe of wanting TO SUPPORT THEM. probably I will never get an answer!! Why do they want the meat back??? Are they going to re sale it?? To someone who asks for a medium rare???...
