First off any one writing good reviews for this restaurant must not have any idea what good Mexican food is. Well I had ordered off the menu the “hand made tamales”. They were supposed to be rajas and cheese. I had also got a side of black beans and steamed vegetables. Well they brought my plate out and instead of black beans I had rice on my plate. I told our server so he apologized and said he would bring a side of black beans. I then cut into my tamales and noticed something right away that appeared to be chicken. I am a vegetarian and ordered just rajas con cheese so I looked at the ingredients in the tamale and it looked mushy, smelled like spoiled cheese or something. I didn’t see any real cheese in the tamales just that weird smelly mushy chicken looking stuff. I told the server so he apologized and took my plate. When he brought it back the tamales were completely mashed up and dissected. He said he went through them and they look fine. He also said he even tasted them. As if I was supposed to say “ok, I will eat it now. My beans were brought out and they weren’t black beans but pinto beans and they looked watery. My boyfriend ordered a chicken quesadilla with peppers n onions. It was cold and soggy and not even cooked properly. My mom used to make tamales so I know what a hand made tamales so I know what a hand made tamale looks like and those looked old frozen. Food was disgusting. We asked for a manager and they said there is no manager there. Smh ,...
Read moreLa Catrina is a gem of a Mexican restaurant that truly delivers on both flavor and hospitality. From the moment we walked in, the warm, festive décor set the perfect mood for a memorable meal. Our server greeted us with a genuine smile and guided us through the menu with enthusiasm and expertise—setting the tone for an outstanding dining experience.
We started with their classic margarita, perfectly balanced between tart lime and just enough sweetness, with a hint of premium tequila that left us wanting another. For our entrees, the burrito was a masterclass in simplicity: tender, slow-cooked meat, fluffy rice, beans, and cheese all wrapped in a soft, pillowy tortilla and topped with a smoky, house-made salsa that tied every bite together. The chimichanga was equally impressive—crispy on the outside, juicy and flavorful within, accompanied by a side of cool, tangy guacamole and sour cream that complemented the savory filling beautifully.
What really stood out, beyond the delicious food, was the service. Our waiter anticipated our needs without ever being intrusive, checked in at just the right moments, and even offered thoughtful recommendations for our next visit. It’s rare to find a spot where every dish shines and the staff elevates the experience to something special. We can’t wait to return to La Catrina—and we highly recommend it to anyone craving authentic Mexican cuisine with...
Read moreMy husband, and I Used to like going to La Catrina back in 2019 The Food Was Very Good, They Had very good salsas, And Food. Now 2024 I don't know if it has new owners. The sits are not comfortable at all. The Food Is Not As Good As It Used To Be. We tried it 3 times again thinking it was just a different person cooking. I had a Chile Poblano that it appear not to be cooked the right way. We used to like getting the Fajitas for 2 They Used To Be Good With flavor. Now they don't taste good. This week we went on a weekday for lunch. I ordered The Chicken Mole I Have No Idea What It was?Definitely not Mole. The sauce was runny it tasted like water with cloves cinnamon and maybe a little bit of sugar if you call it a sauce. I even told the server To Tell The Person Cooking That what they served me was Not Mole. He apologized but I still had to pay full price. We don't mind paying for Good Food. I think is best to say they don't have an item on the menu. Then to put something together that teast like they don't know how to cook. Maybe hire a different chef that knows how to cook real Mexican food. The Rice, and Beans, were good and the tortillas was the only thing I eat after tasting The So Call Chicken Mole. Please take it off the menu Until you have someone that knows how to make it. Not Worth The...
