After a day on the beach, I ran into a local there who recommended Long Doggers. How did I know she was a local? Her hat told me so. I heard how the family that owns this restaurant were friends of hers and good people. She even told me that she would normally be giving out coupons but that she had run out, so I should ask for the manager and mention her name.
I don't really know if that made a difference, but it doesn't matter. We enjoyed it regardless of what kind of discount we may have gotten.
The interior has a fun beachy vibe, with bright colors, surfboards and other beach themes. Dining out was an option, but being a bit on the warm side, we opted for indoor dining.
The staff was all very friendly, probably smiling beneath their masks, I'm guessing. Our waitress was very helpful and offered suggestions as we went along.
We started with a Smoked Fish Dip appetizer, along with the drinks. I had a pineapple cider which was very light and refreshing. Others had a beer, cucumber cooler and iced tea, all of which hit the spot.
For the main course, we ordered lobster bisque, the Banzai Shrimp Bowl, the triple fin combo x2 and fish and chips. Most of these were pretty straightforward, but a few need some explanation. The Banzai Shrimp Bowl can tend to be a bit warm for some people, as explained by our waitress. If you are sensitive to spice, you might ask for a sample first.
The triple fin combo is a secret item, not listed on the menu. The double fin dish is a listed offering, but the waitress was kind enough to look at the two grown men seated there and notice that they may want more. If you have a big appetite, ask about it. As it turns out, my appetite wasn't quite enough to handle it. Probably shouldn't have had that second cider.
Overall, a pretty good experience. Not what some others recommended to us, but we would definitely go back next time we're in Cocoa Beach. The special this day was ribs and their special potato salad, but we didn't want to venture away from seafood. One of these days, we'll give those a...
Read moreVery disappointed with the service we received from the staff of this location. The waitress was very rude to my sister in law who asked if the grilled cheese was “yellow” the waitress replied in what seemed like a sarcastic tone that it was “American”. My niece has autism and will only eat the yellow cheese that’s why my sister in law was trying to make sure it was yellow. We just felt like she didn’t take the time to confirm and understand her request. She also felt somewhat ignored by the waitress. The second staff member that dropped on the grilled cheese was also very rude and loudly announced that it was American wife when my sister in law said it wasn’t yellow like she had confirmed before. That’s when she stated that there was white American and yellow cheddar which clearly was what my sister in law was trying to confirm with the waitress. My niece sat watching us eat for almost 20 mins. She was upset and clearly we had already finished our meals by the time her food came. I personally felt the second waitress was unnecessarily loud and rude to our table regarding the grilled cheese. We also waited on silverware and the original waitress so came off as annoyed when we asked for items for our table. We asked for ketchup and she never can back with it. We all collectively felt it was just not a nice vibe with the staff they seemed annoyed and almost unfriendly with our table. Unfriendly with children and families to be honest never...
Read moreFor a low-key, casual restaurant, it was a great oasis from the madness at Kennedy Space Center and Disney. A decent selection of beer, decent food offerings, and healthy portions.
The hot dogs were actually really good — don’t be afraid to order that if hot dogs are your thing. The fish ‘n chips was good but different. I’m more of a traditional British style fish ‘n chips person, so the cornmeal breading threw me off quite a bit, but it was still tasty. The fries are waffle style, so they’ve got some heft to them and are appropriate, I think.
The buffalo wings left a bit to be desired — they were prepared OK, but the buffalo sauce was a let-down compared to other places I’ve been. So far Moe’s up in Minnesota have been my favorite wings to date. The onion rings were also so-so, but not bad. They were a bit greasy for my preference though and not very crispy.
One thing that also threw me off a little was the paper plates — that was a little low-brow for my taste and would have preferred real plates to not only reduce the waste, but maybe push up the rep a little. Paper plates kinda give off a trashy vibe.
The key lime pie was AMAZING and worth it. Get it.
On the whole, we really loved our stop here and would probably return again. I don’t think I’d get the wings or ‘rings again though, not unless they stepped up their game in...
