I was referred to this jeweler (Cocoa Bch) by a local jewelry store (Melbourne) as a place that 'could fix old watches.' So I took our 1894 pocket watch there. I was given the watch by a very dear old man who told me to give it to my son on his 40th birthday. After dropping it off, I was assured it was no big deal...easy breezy attitude- the mark of a Master! I felt very assured and confident that in no time the watch would be repaired. They tagged it (with nothing written on the receipt I was given- just a numbered tag) and said they'd call when it was ready. Because of the lackadaisical manner and their lack of saying 'this could take months' the longer it sat there with nothing being done, gave me concern. Four weeks go by (on a Friday), I call to check on it. I'm told the gentleman who does the repairs was at a funeral and no one else can tell me anything except they know it's come off the hook (which it's been hanging on...as in it's now made it's turn to the bench). Another two weeks go by and I drive back to check on it (also a Friday ). A woman who identified herself as the store manager tells me the gentleman isn't in today and when I mention that he wasn't here also 2 weeks ago, she says he's always off on Friday. I explained this was to be a gift and now I'm wondering if it will be late and that maybe I should just take the watch back she says, 'well, you won't find anyone else to repair because he's the only one around.' She motions to some huge cabinet in the back that is filled she tells me with 1000's of watch parts. She scribbled my name and phone # down on a pad, implying she would get on this. So, reluctantly I left again without the watch. It has now been 10 weeks. Today I went back. I was approached by a different woman who asked how she could help. I said, "I'm here to pick up my watch." She replied, 'oh, they called you?' I said no they didn't but I still want my watch. The gentleman who does the repair mutters something about trying to find a part for the watch and that he's the only one around that can repair it. They removed the watch from what looked to be the same hook it was hung on when I dropped it off. Just didn't feel right, I took the...
Read moreI can't say enough about this place, I was referred here to have my watch fixed, It is an important watch as I wore it through my military service and plan on passing it down to my son. They ended up having the watch for a little over a week and when I picked it up it was perfect and Chris took great care of me and remembered everything about my situation. I was treated vey personal and walked out the door with a smile, I have read some of the other reviews complaining, but they may not realize that they are probably the only watch repair in the area and get watches from all over so the one guy is doing all of these repairs, Have some patience, it's worth it! Also As for one of the reviews complaining about time, it is probably hard to find parts for a watch made in the 1800's these thing take time, sheeshe. I highly recommend...
Read moreI lost the back to a pair of diamond earrings I received for my high school graduation 50+ years ago. Said they had several screw on back and would go through what they had. Unfortunately they had to order new stems and backs and a goldsmith would repair it. I was told it would be $70. They called and left a voicemail and said my earring were done and it would be $140. If I paid in cash, they would not charge me tax. When I went in the pick my earrings up, I mentioned I was shocked the repair was double what I had been quote over the phone. I was basically put off and the attitude was "oh well." I was going to look for a pearl bracelet, but after this experience, I'll be buying...
