We enjoyed this place so much, we ended up eating there twice! Judging by the line of people patiently waiting for the place to open at 7:00 for breakfast (wish they opened at 6:00, but that's just me), we knew we'd found a winner.
The doors were opened in a timely manner and we were greeted promptly by pleasant, friendly young women, who ended up being our servers as well. Coffee and water arrived quickly, which we expect at a sit-down restaurant, but the turnaround on our food order bordered on a world's record! Both mornings, our food arrived no later than 10 minutes after we ordered, which was very much appreciated because we came to Cody for work and were hungry! The first morning, I ordered the country Benedict, which consisted of their delicious, moist house-made biscuits, topped with sausage patties, sunny-side up eggs and country gravy. Potatoes come with as well, but I found those to be slightly oily. The portions were so generous I ended up taking a to-go box. The next morning, I had the pork green Chile omelet. That one I polished off no problem, it was SO good! The Chile Verde tasted home-made.
The restaurant itself looks quite new with a well-kept lawn and flower beds outside. The interior dining areas were spotlessly clean. I particularly liked that they put the napkins in a dispenser on the tables so you could take as many as you needed. The decor was typical Western kitsch - hey, it's Cody, WY, the rodeo capitol of the state! - with cowhide upholstery on the booth seats. They even had a replica of an old stagecoach in one of the dining areas. Unfortunately, I forgot to snap a pic of that.
Prices were OK, about what you'd expect in a tourist town. And like I said, it would have been nice if they had opened earlier, but 7:00 am seems to be the standard opening time for establishments that serve breakfast. But if you're looking for a good place for breakfast or lunch, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rooster's Cafe. Next time we visit Cody, we'd...
Read moreOrdered a Wild West chicken wrap and per the menu it comes with grilled chicken-bacon-lettuce-tomato, with your choice of honey mustard or ranch dressing. Now with the name Wild West, I thought the chicken would have a bit of a spicy taste. When I tried to pick up my wrap, the half I picked up, fell apart and all the food inside fell on my plate. Obviously, I expected to pick it up and eat it like any other wrap and now it was all over my plate. I was not happy but I decided I would eat it like a salad. The server was very nice and apologized, told her it wasn’t her fault that whoever wrapped up the wrap, didn’t take the time to ensure it was a snug wrap. I ask for some more ranch dressing and she brought it and after adding it to what was now a pathetic looking salad, I took my first bite of the chicken. Well the chicken was not cooked with any spices at all! Very bland and dry (over cooked). I tried to eat it but just wasn’t enjoying my wrap this way. I ask for the manager and a young girl came over and said I am the acting manager for today. I told her how I felt about the food on my plate, which I had not even eaten 1/2 of the half that I had picked up. A reputable restaurant would have removed the item from my bill but that didn’t happen. She stated she can only offer me 20-25% off my bill, when I only ate maybe 25% of the wrap. Then she offered a cinnamon roll or pecan roll, since I hadn’t eaten, I accepted the pecan roll and was understanding that I would get the 25% off my meal and when we received our bill, I was only allowed a 15% discount! She didn’t offer me one or the other…….will be in this area a few more days and definitely won’t go back to this restaurant. Do not recommend it either. This small town has few restaurants and Dairy Queen and Michael’s Tacos were the best places we could find anything to eat. Plan on...
Read moreI'm a local, this place just opened a couple of weeks ago. I ordered the biscuits and gravy breakfast. It came with fried potatoes, my choice of bacon or sausage, and eggs (I got mine without eggs because I can't stand eggs) and with sausage. The biscuits and gravy were some of the best I've ever had, although fairly small. The sausage was good and came as two generous patties. The potatoes were excellent. I would say that the somewhat small portion of biscuits and gravy was made up for by the potatoes and sausage. Coffee was good, although a bit weak for my taste. My waiter, Tristen, was a very friendly and polite young man. He was extremely apologetic for making me wait as long as I did for him to take my order, although I wasn't in a hurry and didn't wait for more than 5 minutes after I was seated. He seemed surprised and humbled that I left him a tip even though he deserved it!
Update: today (1/15/25) a friend of mine and I went in for lunch. I guess I had high expectations because of my previous breakfast here, but those went out the window when I saw the lunch menu. All there was on the lunch menu was one burger, one sandwich and several different wraps. I ordered the burger with Swiss cheese, it came with a mushy slice of tomato, and 2 pieces of romaine lettuce stalks with a small amount of very wilted lettuce still clinging on. I have never had a more underwhelming, tasteless burger in my life. It was as bad as the burger I had at Millstone a few years ago. For a $12 burger, even a hint of flavor would've been welcome. The fries were quite...
