Well I have to say I'm disappointed. I was, at first, excited after seeing some of the positive reviews but this place has some issues with customer service and proper execution of some of the dishes/drinks as well as. I was hoping to try a local gem and enjoy some great pizza but this turned out to be entirely forgettable. I have had the opportunity to sample lots of small local restaurants in a number of cities and unfortunately some of the 'mom and pop' stores miss some key details that can make all of the difference. FIRST - Don't ever serve a cocktail, such as the vodka soda a number of us ordered, warm. There was NO ICE IN THE VODKA SODA. What? Seriously? That was very unappealing. Then when it's brought to the servers attention, her response was pretty much, 'oh well....'. SECONDLY - the small version of the salad (meant to be a side salad) was a small fistful of lettuce with about a drop of dressing and cost $5. That's a ripoff, in my opinion. THIRDLY - once a server has charged the credit cards and there is clearly an authorization/approval code on each guests receipt, do not come back to the table and claim you need to swipe everyone's cards again because 'your system says unpaid'. Your system clearly has an issue and that is none of our problems when we can all see the charge on each of our mobile apps for all cards swiped. We stood around while the server spent 10 minutes checking into it, making us late getting to an event that was planned. Overall, the server seemed more or less disinterested in the customer service factor. The pizza was good but not great. For the price point, I've come across many other pizza joints that really whip up some artisanry for the same price, if not a little less. My advice to the owner, you need to lock down your customer service, serve your cocktails cold (with plenty of ice) and make sure your computer glitches don't become the problem of any of your guests. I'm in management for a living and I have a feeling others will concur with...
Read moreWe’ve been to pizzeria Rustica twice now within the past month. Both times it has been nothing short of exceptional. My first time going we started with the fonduta and had the cinque formaggi pizza as well as the special pizza of the day which had meatballs, red onion and pecorino. We loved the meatballs so much that my mom ordered an order of them along with her meal. I split the formaggi with my mom and my dad had the pizza of the day on his own. The pizzas are not that big and are 6 slices so perfect for a big personal pizza. I also went again today and started off with the same appetizer. My mom had the montucky beer that she liked from last time but they have a variety of wines. We once again got the pizza of the day this time it had five cheese, pepperoni, red onion, and chili oil. I once again got the formaggi pizza which was amazing, my mom got the meatballs as her meal. I’m not a fan of red sauce usually but I loved the meatballs and marinara. If you ask for it they will provide chili oil and truffle oil to dip your pizza in which I’m my opinion makes the pizza even better. The service is amazing and when we went at 4 pm on a Monday it wasn’t busy at all and it finally picked up around 5. When we went at 6 it was pretty busy though but not busy enough so, there was no wait. Eating there you also get to support local businesses and farms, they have a list of all the farms where they get their ingredients to show where you’re supporting when eating there. For us three to eat there it was over 100 but that was 2 appetizers two beers, two pizzas and the quality is TOTALLY worth it!! I’d say it’s moderately priced. Everyone is so kind and social and have amazing recommendations. I...
Read moreThis was a bizarre disappointment. For starters, the waitress made us sit through an over winded explanation of what the words in the menu's section titles meant (without asking if we NEEDED help) as though we clearly aren't familiar with such exotic terms as "antipasto," "insalata," and "pizze." The vegetable and cheese plate was just an assortment of whatever random things they scrounged from around their pantry: cold roast potatoes and carrot slices, sliced banana pepper rings, olives with the whole pit in them, strawberries that turned gray from apparently sitting out all day, soggy "fried" polenta, the tiniest pieces of flatbread, and literally the Belgioso cheeses you can get at any supermarket. I've made more professional-looking cheese boards from bargain store ingredients. The waitress then told us "you guys can just reuse your plates and put your olive pits on [the cheese board she was taking away," then proceeded to force me to transfer my olive pits. Who on earth thinks this is a professional way to treat customers? She also obnoxiously reached over my plate to make a big show about refilling my full water cup, which she evidently wasn't happy about me moving to my right side to make space. The pizza we ordered was edible (chicken, red onion, and pistachio) but definitely not worth $18. Neopolitan pizza is not supposed to be so floppy, and onion shouldn't come out translucent and soggy if the pizza is properly wood-fired. There are much better pizza and Italian places, at various price points, all over Colorado Springs. Slice 420, High Rise Pizza Kitchen, Roadrunner's, even Il Vicino and Bambino's serve a better pizza. Don't waste...
