Lackluster Beverage Experience Marred Our Anticipated Dining Experience
Review:
My girlfriend and I undertook a lengthy 12-hour journey from Dallas, Texas to Colorado Springs, lured by the prospect of convenience and a cherished indulgence. We specifically selected a hotel across from your restaurant, ensuring easy accessibility, as we planned to unwind over a few drinks and a shared dish while waiting for our room to become available.
Recently diagnosed as a diabetic, I've had to forego my favorite drink, the Old Fashioned, for the past three months. The anticipation of enjoying this beloved cocktail once again was a highlight of our trip, making our visit to your restaurant especially significant.
Upon our arrival, we found the Indian theme charming and enjoyed the quality of the shared dish we ordered. We were, however, disappointed to find that there were no available outlets to plug in my laptop, nor was there Wi-Fi to aid our intent to get some work done. These issues were, unfortunately, precursors to our biggest letdown - the beverage service.
The Old Fashioned I ordered was a far cry from the classic blend of whiskey, sugar, water, and bitters traditionally garnished with an orange slice. Instead, I received a disappointingly small glass with a piece of ice, a lime, and a meager amount of whiskey. The steep $25 price for this drink, which was even higher than our food bill, added to our dismay. Moreover, an unexpected $6 charge for water further inflated our bill and our dissatisfaction.
Our journey began with high spirits and anticipation, but our overall experience at your restaurant, marred by the poor quality of drinks, lack of basic facilities like Wi-Fi and power outlets, and unfair pricing, fell woefully short of our expectations. We believe there's a significant opportunity for improvement in delivering value for money, upholding the integrity of classic cocktail recipes, and providing basic amenities to ensure a satisfactory...
Read moreI typically don't like leaving bad reviews, but if my experience was poor, then I'll write one. I am a DoorDash delivery driver. I received a double order for two separate customers. The first pickup was at Urban Tandoor. I had never been there before. Upon my arrival I was greeted by a young lady at the front. I informed her that I was here for a DoorDash order. She told me that it wasn't ready yet and to take a seat. I waited for 10 minutes and watched as other people came in and picked up their to go orders. After that, a male employee asked me what I was waiting for and I told him. He told me that it wasn't ready yet. I patiently waited until the 20 minute mark and became impatient. As I mentioned, this was a double order and the other customer's order was probably ready and getting cold. Multiple customer's were served their meals as I waited for my order that never came. They weren't even that busy. After the 20 minutes of waiting, I was forced to cancel that order. This is unfortunate because that customer will now be delayed even further and I wasted 20 minutes, plus gas, for no reason. I have done delivery for over 2 years and I normally receive prompt and professional service. There are a few businesses that are an exception and Urban Tandoor is one of them. It boggles me how a business can disregard delivery drivers. I mean, we're only helping to expand their business and offer delivery services when they won't do it themselves. Moreover, to be unprofessional and lack any consideration for delivery drivers and their customers is just horrible. That was the first time that I had went to this business and needless to say, the last time. I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone as a result of my extremely negative...
Read moreFour nights in Colorado Springs and ordered dinner (pick up) from here a few hours ago and I regret having overlooked this gem of a place and having wasted so much time searching for authentic Indian food in the area! Sure they don't serve momos or soups but they do have fabulous curries, authentic tandoori chicken, naan that looks and tastes like naan and not overly risen yeasty pizza dough and the most flavorful keema naan. My mughlai chicken curry had succulent and juicy pieces of white meat and not hard meat blocks thrown in some watery sauce. The curry was flavorful and it was thick. That's it. It had flavor and lots of it. It was served with cumin rice (awesome!). Garlic naans were soft, thin (thank god) garlicky and looked beautiful! Yes, if you've lived in the States for a long time and you rarely see and taste naans this good, you start giving them adjectives. My husband loved their keema naans. He's kept a portion hidden for his lunch tomorrow.
Let's talk about their tandoori chicken. The last time we ate a smoky Indian tandoori chicken here in the US at a restaurant was in NY back in 2017. I grew up eating tandoori chicken and I thought Urban Tandoor's Tandoori chicken was extremely flavorful. Yes, it was less salty and wasn't hot as I'd asked for it to be but honestly didn't care much because the flavors were fabulous!
I wish they were open at 7 am so that I could order take out for our on the way lunch for a 9 hour drive home but one can only do so much! :p I don't think there are any take out pictures so I'm attaching a few so that it gives anyone reading this review an idea of what the food looks like. Good luck and we'll be back!...
