I have never in my life had such a horrid experience staying somewhere. I had to come back home last minute for my mother's funeral and I'm familiar with the area so I thought it'd be safe. I was traveling alone and I am disabled so I was hoping for a simple last minute stay here. I was approached twice by two strange men (first in the parking lot while I was getting my bags out of the car and the second man was waiting in a doorway upstairs by my room and was calling me rude for ignoring him). I immediately made the decision to leave within less than an hour of checking in. I told the front desk guy about the men and he didn't care. He even pointed at the security camera screens and shook his head as if I was imagining these men. I called management and Priceline after I left (about an hour later of checking out) to get my stay cancelled and whichever man I spoke with, said I could be refunded for 5 of the 6 nights and that Priceline had to approve it.
Keep in mind, this man would never give me a name and neither would the front desk staff who transferred me. This is an important part. These calls between Priceline, econolodge management, and me went on over a week because he continued to tell Priceline he wouldn't refund me despite what he told me the first night. After many attempts of trying to speak with him again, I finally got through a week later and he told me again, I could be refunded for 5 of the days but it was up to Priceline which was not aligned to what he was telling Priceline.
NOTE: It took me a week of trying to speak with the manager and I kept being told he had either left for the day, was on vacation for two weeks, or I'd get patched through to his line and be sent straight to voicemail. He was intentionally avoiding me.
Every time I spoke with him he was BEYOND rude and derisive. He would not give me his name and he treated me like scum. This is not an exaggeration.. he truly spoke to me as though I was dirt beneath his feet. He then told Priceline again, no refund. I escalated the case to a supervisor who had the three of us on the line and he was even more vile to both the supervisor and myself. Still refusing to give his name and yelling "I said what I needed to say. I'm not repeating myself" when confronted with why he told me one thing and them another. He also threatened to sue for the Priceline supervisor three way calling. He was seething and yelling at the both of us and refused to let either of us speak or ask him anything. He also hung up on me and Priceline a total of 3 times throughout this process.
I escalated it further with Priceline and they were finally able to refund me after getting the full story of the safety issues. THIS MANAGER AND THE ENTIRE STAFF WILL NOT RESPECT YOU. He is absolutely one of the most awful people I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. The entire staff was dismissive, deceitful, and lacked a care in the world for what was going on. They could not be bothered. (I'm sure the manager has a big part in how the staff treated me as it matched his abhorrent behavior). Being there and grieving the loss of my mother as well as being a solo traveling disabled female, this whole experience was a nightmare.

Read moreI have used Choice hotels for a while now and have been happy with every place I have stayed under the choice hotel name until now. It is extremely rare that I take the time to write a review, but because of how unhappy we were with this place. I decided that I needed to let others know. I picked this hotel because of the price and location. I did not read the reviews but did look and supposedly it has 4.2 stars. I do not see how that is possible. I would include photos if I could but I do not currently see a place to do that. If I figure it out, I will attach photos.
First lets start with the hallway leading to the room. There were old mattresses in the hallway. I would write that off as they were upgrading but there was no other sign of that any where else in the places in the hotel I visited and no notices up stating that. The carpet in the hallway was in much needed of attention.
Now the room, the shower door was barely hanging on. we were afraid to close or open it without worried of it falling off the hinges. there was multiple places the wall paper was coming off the wall with multiple holes in the wall. In one corner it looked to be some mold growing. The room had a small odor, I can not explain it. There was something brown on the light switch cover. The mattress in the room was nasty. I understand there will be stains on a hotel room mattress, but this was beyond a few stains. the whole mattress was covered in stains and the mattress was very uncomfortable. The A/c unit barely worked and was only able to keep the room from being hot. We had it set for 67 degrees but the room was more around upper 70's. I did not have an thermometer, so I could not give you an exact temperature, but it was warm in the room all night.
we were very unhappy with the room but it was late so we reluctantly stayed for the night. We tried to call the front desk to talk to some one but no one answered. Again it was late so we went to bed. My girlfriend had stuff to do early in the morning so she woke up at 6am and on her way out, she stopped at the front desk to ask if we could check out early. she was told that she had to wait till the manager showed up later. I woke up at the time that the manager was supposed to be in and was told that he was not there and that I would still be charge for the room even if we checked out way before the checkout time. I have stayed at a lot of hotels in my life and unfortunately things change, like plans or just unhappy with room and never have had an issue where I got charge for a room that I did not stay in even if I was scheduled to stay more night. other hotels have always been willing to work with me and only charge me for the days I stayed. This hotel would not and charged me for the two night even though I checked out before the checkout time.

I checked into the hotel on 4/25 at 4:38pm by JPATEL according to the paperwork. The total amount of my stay was to be $249.53. When I got to my room I found it to be minimally "OK" as I did just a quick scan and go. Hind sight, I should have ran for the hills. I didn't look that close at the room until my daughter dropped me off. Upon checking, the room was quite disgusting. Had it not been so late that night and had I had transportation I would have left and booked a different hotel. The whole hotel needs to be condemned.||||I called the customer service # that same evening and talked to them about the room, asking them what my options were. They told me I could check out early and go to a different hotel. I booked the new hotel that same day after my daughter came to get me. When I returned to the hotel to pack and tell them I was leaving early the man working the counter was an asshat to me. When I went to do the checkout the lady who checked me out didn't give me any hassle, she gave me a receipt and told me it'd take 24-48 hrs to see the refund back to the card. Well today, May 1, the refund hasn't showed up. In fact the whole amount of $249.53 was charged to my card and it has been processed through. So the transaction has been paid. I of course called the credit card company to dispute the charge. They didn't give me any hassle either but she did ask me what was wrong with the room. I told her let me pull my pictures that I took and I'll give you all the details. Well she ran out of room on her form before I got even halfway through my list. ||||This is just a very, very brief explanation of the issues.
